Bubba's Morning how on B94

This might be already mentioned in another thread, but I heard on B94 that Bubba will be on the new morning shoe starting next year on B94. Does anyone know if he is the 'star' of the show or does he have anyone else? I think he is probably a good choice for a morning show...

If Bubba is the leader this should be quite interesting. He's never really "run the show" before. He's always been the goofy sidekick. I think it could work, though, with a new young cast as his sidekicks... Bubba will get the old listeners to return while 20-something sidekicks will get the younger KISS listeners to tune in. This way everyone may be happy, old and new listeners alike.

apparently it is at least him and one other fresh male face.

I was a bit disappointed with this move actually. A lot of what Bubba did on STAR was funny stuff that he did with his kids. It seems a bit odd that he wants to go back to his more jackass days on B94 and not keep his progressively "mature" role on STAR.

IDK maybe his kids are getting a bit too old to be incorporated and it was inevitable that he would want to go back to his former crazyness.

Guess my only question at this point is why in the world is it taking CBS so long to get an airstaff on the air to bring this thing to life? Bee was reborn way before Thanksgiving and yet we still only have 2 jocks on-air with a morning show finally coming online the second week of January. It almost seems to me as if they aren't taking this too seriously at all. Maybe its just me, but back in my day when we did a format flip, it was all pre-planned and we hit the ground running with full staff, our liners in the can ready to roll and a stragety to get our faces out in the public asap to create a buzz. Am I missing something here?

So here's my question. Given the Bubba and Buckhead scenario, how close will this new entity mimic the classic B94 shows? will it be a clone or an entirely new product?

Is this something "bold and new" or a callback to classic B94?

Right now they are asking listeners to text into the station what crazy thing you'd want Bubba to do on Friday morning. Sounds like classic B94 morning show antics to me.

But the show couldn't be debuting at a WORSE time. Bubba = Steelers and the the games are over now! :-\

To answer Shilton's question: This all the faster they can afford to go. Their budget is set in stone and they didn't even get all of it in place until after the first of the year. That's just the way CBS operates these days. Keith wants to add a female presence, but doesn't have permission to spend the $$ yet.

Guess CBS spent all the cash hiring Katie Courick to do the news and getting Letterman back on the air in the midst of the strike on tv.

Just can't convince me they Can't spend the $$$...its more like they won't. A name as big as CBS...they have it.

Unless they still have to pay Zone personalities until their contract is up with them. Then all of their budget is already allocated to talent they cannot even use.

I listened to the Bubba and Buck Head show this morning. Apparently tomorrow Bubba is gonna go up on an airplane and do some wing walking.

At points it was a bit choppy like Buck Head forgot what to hit next on the board but other than that it was entertaining.

Wow...morning guys running their own board. What a novel idea LOL. New boards are always frustrating at first. I am sure he'll get it down pat rather quickly. I have listened yesterday and today and found them to be somewhat entertaining. I am sure it will get even better as they settle in and find their true "niche" but its not a bad start. Definately nice to hear jocks on the air

In my opinion, the stunt Bubba did flying on the wing of an airplane around the city this morning was priceless. Was that the biggest stunt in Pittsburgh radio history?

I tried listening and it was HORRIBLE radio!

So, the guy with like 4 or 5 kids now, wants to make them fatherless some day by flying on the wing of an airplane. Go ahead Bubba, make those kids have no daddy because you have some far-fetched ego that THINKS you're good on the radio and what you used to do 10 years ago is still pliable today. Keep thinking like that and KISS will get ahead of you in the ratings.

If I were the company that owns the plane and the pilot, I would've refused this childish stunt due to insurance. I wouldn't want to be liable for this idiot.

Buckhead is palatable, but Bubba is just an egomaniac and you can hear it in his voice. He talks like he's the best thing on the radio and he is not. He doesn't understand radio or his audience.

Sorry Todd, but this wasn't "priceless" radio. It was plain and simple, "stupid" radio.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

IMO, I liked it. I think the stunt is probably the biggest in PGH radio history. I definitely believe that the stunt wouldn't have happened if they couldn't have put every safeguard possible in place.

I'll admit that there were a few choppy parts of the show when I listened, but I think that'll work itself out. I do think they could use a female 'voice of reason' to even things out a bit.

Let's put it this way... 7 out of 10, and probably better in a couple of weeks once they get a rhythm going.
