BUDA On Channel 955

Does anyone know where he went? He just disappeared from channel 955... His last day on air was Thursday of last week and I was not listening. I don't know if he said anything but he should of at least made a tweet or facebook post. Nothing was said by him.

I thought he was annoying to tell you the truth. It didn't really mind me if he was on 955 or not. But ICE has now taken over and I have always liked her, but I think if they were to pick anyone from the 955 staff to take over I would pick Stick. I think he would be somewhat like big boy(in a way), who I enjoyed listening to...

But another thing I was thinking about was maybe 955 fired him because he didn't fit the station and they had planned to hire tik-tak(Mark allen) who was formally on the station years ago. Tik-tak left 923 Now in New York a little less then a month ago and now Buda is gone from 955. That seemed like an option. But a guy claiming to be Tik-tak posted on this forum shortly after leaving 923 now saying he left to be a programing director. So its a possibility its a guy framing him OR the PD thing didn't workout.

But who really knows. Cant wait to see who is the next night host!!

^ Ya that's one thing I thought of right after posting this. He started on 955 in 2009 around the march/april time frame so he probably had a 2 year contract...

Now when things like this happen, I get kind of excited to see who will be the next nighttime host. When big boy left and was replaced with buda I was kind of pissed because I liked the way big boy ran his show. So thats why I still listen to him in New york at times.

I don't even know why they signed buda... He really didn't fit the stations style. He would be more suited on a hip hop station.

Anyone wanna bet that Tic Tak and the Freakshow comes back for a second run on 955....AND as a programming director?

I bet that by the beginning of the summer, he'll be back on the Detroit airwaves (just my opinion)

That would be great but does anyone know when 955s current PD was signed? I thought it was like the 1st of 2010. So I am unsure of the part of Tik-Tak being PD. And with 955 being in such a competition with 987 amp radio it would be risky to let a unexperienced PD to run the station. But one thing 955 does know is he is out there and unsigned. So its a possibility he could be the Nighttime host if he is offered a good enough contract.

The plus to having a guy like tik-tak on the station is he is well known on the radio. He is a veteran and he would be a huge boost in ratings for 955. Buda like I said above had a weird sense of humour and was upsessed with the "smacks". It was old, plain, and probably made people change the station.

Ohh Dom left 955 at the start of 2009... Now I remember because on New Years day they did the years top countdown and mojo & everyone were saying good bye. And then he went on to do 923 now and 987 amp radio.

Z100 PD Sharon Dastur took over PD reins from January to August 09 and then Mike McCoy took over.

Good that explains the missing piece. I knew he wasn't the PD the whole time since Jan 09... So that means Sharon was part of the reason we got Buda(right?). Mike Mccoy probably didn't like him as much. Also Mike Mccoy is the reason the music on the station changed.... Right after that there was a huge change.

Which is probably why ratings for the station went down the tubes as of late....

A lesson in radio (if I'm allowed to do such a thing): What works in one market (Chicago, in Buda's case) doesn't work in another (particularly this market). Maybe that was the case, and if it was, props to Mike McCoy for realizing it sooner rather than later when 9-5-5 comes out with lower than a 2.0 market share (assuming he was let go, which I don't wish that on anybody, but business is business...you know how that go).

Channel's current sound really has nothing to do the ratings. If anything it has gained listenership in some aspects. The decline of 955 has been mainly due to AMP Radio coming a long and WDVD tweaking there playlist and adding in many songs that both 955 and Amp play. Basically all of that divided the top 40 audience in half, one half staying with 955 and the others "making the switch" to Amp Radio.

Ya... If amp is gone 955 will have many more listeners because these 2 stations are the only 2 stations that play the same exact music types. 106.7 and 96.3 may play songs played on those stations but not as many. Me, the type of music I listen to is the current hits, which happen to be everything on 955 and amp. When I don't like a song I switch between the stations. When I listen to the beat 1067 you start hearing old hits from the 80s,90s, and early 2000s. I don't like that stuff, which makes the station different from 955 & amp.
