Classic Rock WLUP ( The Loop ) & Alt. WKQX ( Q101.1 )/Chicago brand manger Tisa Lasorte and Q101.1 PD Marc Young are Out ( Budget Cuts )

Good riddance to Erin Carman. If she wasn't a blatant attempt to pander to the white trash demographic, I don't know what is! The Loop has become an embarassment. It was a better station when Bonneville owned it.

The Manno Brothers will now air in PM Drive? You've gotta be kidding me. Their show is HORRIBLE and does not fit the sound of an alternative rock station very well, IMO.

Q101 earned what must be the station's worst ratings books ever as an alt rock station during Tisa LaSorte's tenure. I remember when everyone thought a 2 share in 12+ was shockingly poor for Q101. These days, a consistent 2 share would be a significant improvement!

If Q101 wants to be a personality-intensive station -- here's a hint: HIRE SOME JOCKS WHO DON'T SUCK @SS! Otherwise, shut the hell up and be music intensive.

Bringing Johnny B to The Loop might've been a decent move, but I still question why Mancow simply wasn't shifted from Q101 to The Loop, especially considering Mancow began pulling strong numbers in Men 25-54 once Stern left the terrestrial airwaves.

How does Marv keep his job anyway?

Some of the moves you suggested cost money--something stations aren't going to part with now.

All of their replacements will be coming from Emmis/St. Louis

Emmis/StL OM & KSHE PD Rick Balis will be PD of WLUP
KSHE's imaging director will also image WLUP

KPNT PD Tommy Mattern will be PD o WKQX
KPNT's imaging director will also image WKQX

Emmis/StL head of digital sales KYLE GUDERIAN will be the only one to move here to be OM of both WLUP/WKQX
It's unclear if Balis will report to him or vice versa

Personally, I believe the biggest loss to Emmis' arsenal is Creative Mastermind Ned Spindle. Not a massive self-promoter, but one of the most talented writers, voices, and producers this generation of radio. Amazing ability to twisted-observations on life into high-end, user-friendly promos, sweepers, and many uncategorizable others. His level of well-placed irreverence and picture-painting sensibilities are worthy of freakin' worship. I am proud to know the guy, and even prouder of what he's taught me about this business of entertainment.

My only comfort is that freedom for the creative brings renaissance to the people.... as more brilliant minds are released from their tight boxes, who knows what astonishing things will come?

I completely disagree with you. The Loop has been sounding better than ever. If you want the Bonneville version, then just listen to the Drive.

New trends show Q101 at the bottom of the heap again, only a matter of time before the Manno brothers are off the air FINALLY. Nothing more annoying than BROTHERS on the air together. Blah..so Brady Bunch, plus I've been told by other people that work at this station that they have gigantic ego's and think they are HUGE. Meanwhile they are on the chopping block and don't even know it..

Tell us what you really think :D

Well as much as I personally didn't enjoy Mancow's show when he was there its obvious he was the only thing holding that station together and Manno has talked trash about him in interviews even though the guy gave him his break into radio at Q101. Now maybe the Mannos' and others like them are realizing how hard it is to really maintain ratings and buzz and revenue because they sure can't do it.

The Manno Brothers are absolutely terrible on the air. They do NOT fit the persona of a rock station. They belong on a station geared toward teenage girls.

Quite honestly, Q101 has sounded like dog crap ever since Dave Richards left.

What they need to do is give the PD stripes to Jacent Jackson -- who is currently at WLUM in Milwaukee -- and let him call ALL the shots. What he has been able to accomplish with WLUM is very impressive.

BTW, I would fire the Mannos and bring back Sludge for PM Drive.

Yeah I don't think it will be very long now. You can't miss your main demo and expect to survive.
What will it be a format change, or a for sale sign?

Who would be buying in this market?
