As good a place as any to ask: Eduardo, what are American shows that have been especially popular in Argentina? I ask because one time I got an Argentinian magazine on EBay. The subject? One of the actresses from "Eight is Enough" and her newborn daughter.

Interesting that in 1992, TV in Buenos Aires was still showing the Three Stooges and Get Smart. There is a lot of news, which is good. Is ATC 24 a 24 hour cable news channel and ATC 7 (over the air) simply simulcasts several newscasts? I've seen that done in other countries. And for a while, U.S. stations were running CNN Headline News, especially overnight, to add some news to their schedules.

I also saw that Channel 11 calls itself "Telefe," which I thought might be owned and programmed by the Catholic Church, since fe is faith in Spanish. Channel 11 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is owned by the Church and runs a mix of religious shows and family entertainment. But this channel seems to run all general interest programs, despite the name.

Also interesting that Channel 7 runs Italian shows from 3 to 6am. I know Buenos Aires has a large Italian population. And this publication even lists each channel's "test pattern" before the channel signs on for the day.

The most everlasting American shows in Argentina are, without boubts, The Simpsons, Three Stooges, ALF, The Nanny, Get Smart and Zorro.
The Simpsons is currently the only American show of which news episodes are premiered on OTA TV (but most people prefer to watch those on FOX anyways), while Zorro was shown weekdays on Channel 13 for more than a decade until two months ago.

Curiously, The Three Stooges still run on Buenos Aires TV: weekdays at 6:30 AM on América (channel 2). ATC 24 was just the name for ATC news programmes, now known as Visión Siete.
The name Telefe actually means Televisión Federal, and the station was owned by Editorial Atlántida since 1990 until the late 90s when it was bought by Telefónica, a Spanish phone company.
