BUFFALO AM DRIVE: WGR VS WEDG

Thoughts/comments/suggestions/predictions on Howard Simon and Jeremy White's budding feud with Ted Shredd and Tom Ragan?

I'm curious as to what morning show will win the 18-to-34 male demographic, as well as males 25-to-54, etc.

Who has the best talent on-air and who has the best resources (support of management, strong sales team, dependable and quality production people) to win the battle?

Never wise to take these feuds too seriously. They're always driven by one thing--the desire to be talked about, and to draw curious listeners who want to check out the fireworks. They rarely mean anything...and more often than not they are dreamed up by someone in a front office to get sampling and press for the show that launches the first salvo.

tips the nod to s 'n R:
only because - after the recap of the sabres lastest loss..
score updates on am550, bills off season updates, and
then usually starts the re-cap... sure s/r also recap however
being more topical of news, sports, and other "crap" seems
to serve a larger audience.

Heard Jim Kelly on 97 Rock this morning. Apparently his loyalty to Larry Norton is strong. Norton is also going to have Marv Levy and Andre Reed on later this week. Will WGR or Shredd And Ragan have any of the above mentioned trio on THEIR morning shows?

Just asking out loud.

So much for 97 Rock not having a sports/Buffalo Bills presence anymore despite losing the game broadcasts.

Shredd And Ragan will have to compete with Brad Riter later this month. He's going to fill in for either Howard or Jeremy later on this month, so says my son the sports fan.

So, Brad's making the rounds at Entercom AGAIN, huh? What are the odds that he'll make it on time?

I'll be there.

What days and time slots will Brad be on WGR this month?

Give Brad credit - he knows how to stay in touch with key contacts at Entercom Buffalo and clearly has a fan in Tim Wenger.

The thing is, what role will he play? I've been listening to him and Jeremy this morning. Good show, they have great chemistry and it's been a good listen, even for someone like myself who is not a die-hard sports fan.

What has interested me is that Jeremy has said a few times this morning "Brad's filling in for Howard today and then will be with us again in a few weeks and then rejoins WGR for good in the near future" or something to that effect.

Are we looking at this as a tryout for AM drive so that they can maybe move Howard to the 10am to noon shift and dump Colin Cowherd and go all local from 6am to 7pm as they regroup for the upcoming Bills season now that they are the voice of the team?

If not AM drive, where does Brad figure into WGR's equation? Perhaps the return of his 7pm to 10pm show from years ago when the Sabres aren't on?

Wenger likes the guy and Andy Roth is gone. Roth was the person who fired him. If he stays out of trouble, it sounds like he's back where he thinks he belongs. He's got good buddies who are long-term Entercom employees in Chris Parker and Paul Hamilton to go to bat for him. Plus it sounds from this morning that him and Jeremy White are really close.

Sounded good. It must have felt like being called up from the Batavia Muck Dogs to the New York Yankees. Not that I'm equating WGR with the Yankees. You get the idea. He got on base, drove in a few runs and helped the team. Brad brought his 'A' game. David would be pleased.

Who is David?................I "taped" the whole show on my tunein radio app, and thing is so frustating. They sounded great together and they'd in the middle of something and my app would just go silent. Ugh!

Heh. Maybe they'll put Howard Simon on mid-days, so he can finally have his own show and be able to deliver an entire thought without being interrupted.

Shredd & Ragan have settled in and sound comfortable in morning drive on 103. The days of WGR being number one Men 25-54 in morning drive may be over, despite or maybe in spite of having the Bills. WGR and WBEN tag teaming against 97 and 103. Lots of revenue riding on those bets from all sides of the table.
