Buffalo Buffalo News & KMOX

When I worked at WWOL in the 70's & early 80's our AM [1120] was a daytime-only station that shared that frequency with 50,000 watt KMOX so we had to sign-off at local sunset and return to air at local sunrise. When we were simulcasting with our FM in the early/mid 70's we had to backtime a song to end 30 seconds before the AM sign-off time so we could play the sign-off recording only on the AM while continuing regular country music programming on FM.
I'll wager that fellow WWOL alumnus Nick Seneca who also participate on this board remembers doing that drill back in the day.

About a year ago KMOX-AM began simulcasting programming on sister station WHHL [104.1 FM] So today KMOX occupies the same frequencies that WWOL once had in Buffalo - 1120 AM & 104.1 FM.

Lately instead of KMOX on 1120 at night here in NJ, I'm hearing the Tropical music from WPRX in Connecticut. I wonder if they're "accidentally" using their non-directional 1 kW daytime signal at night.

The company that owns the Buffalo News just bought KMOX in St Louis from Audacy. The company's owner sounds a lot like Buddy Shula. You guys should meet!

In addition to newspapers and radio stations, he also owns the Pittsburgh Penguins!
Big difference between me and this guy......bank register :)
