Dead......... air? Like a dozen periods after every phrase or sentence...............
I'm just sayin'.
WECK and Tom Schuh sound pretty good to my ears. And although I don't listen to WECK as often as a P1 listener might, whenever I do hear the station, it sounds tight and well produced. Could be you heard them in the middle of a fire drill. We've all been through that, like the time the air conditioner fell out of the window during the newscast. Or the time a not-so-small arc was shooting between the transmitter and phasor cabinet. Hmmmm... do I intro "Feelin' Stronger Everyday" or just seg it and run to the transmitter room with the CO2?
I opted for the seg and the fire extinguisher.

Now then. About these wacky ratings. "Good golly Miss Molly... ponderous, friggin' ponderous."
Sorry. Couldn't resist. I'll abide by the disclaimer and offer that whatever's written based on 12+ is pure speculation at this point.
Funny thing about Arbitron ratings estimates, when you consider the methodology, the ratings are "Yesterday's news, tomorrow."
It's clear that some stations took a hit. Like 97 Rock, which went 7.5 to 6.1, Spring 08 to Spring 09. Wazzupwidat?
On the other hand, you'd have to conclude that some stations got kissed. Like Kiss. Spring to Spring, 5.4 to 7.3? Where'd that number come from? Teens? Middays? Mornings? Janet & Scnheckleposeur?
Given that we're looking at 12+, it's hard to say. Did Ryan Seacrest go off the charts middays?
How does 97 Rock lose 1.4 shares Spring to Spring? Is it because Slick Tom Tiberi isn't on at night? If so, did Slick Tom's absence create problems for the morning show because fewer listeners were available to 97 the following morning?
Likewise, did WBEN slip from a consistent 10+ share across the seasons because local libertarian talker Ron Dobson has been replaced with a syndicated kvetching yenta, causing erosion in morning drive? I'd like to see what WBFO-FM and WNED-AM scored in that context.
Didn't look like a good book for AC, either. Spring to Spring, WJYE and WHTT are down. Star is flat. Compare Winter to Spring, and both Star and WJYE are down. WHTT is flat Winter to Spring, getting no traction with Mix. The 12+ shares for AC stations total 16.2 in Spring 08 vs. 15.3 for Spring 09. That's a 5 per cent erosion.
Yet, in years past, W25-54, Star has been very strong 25-49 and WJYE has been very healthy 35-64. WHTT being flat 12+, probably didn't make Top 5 W25-54. Maybe it's in the Top 5 W35-64.
Just speculatin'.
Even though WYRK, the sole FM Country station in Buffalo, is #1, it's down one and a half shares from a year ago, 11.8 to 10.3. Still, with a 10.3, WYRK probably controls most adult demos in every daypart. Then again, what would you expect for a station that's unchallenged in its format.
The other interesting turn is Jack jumping a whole share from Spring 08 to Spring 09 and up point 6 from Winter. Fluke? Kissed? Based on 12+, who knows? But the fact is, Jack has overtaken WHTT, which slid 1.2 shares Spring to Spring. Jack also edged the Edge and Star for the first time.
Strange.
But as mentioned, it's Arbitron. It's 12+. And I'm just speculatin'.
Ponderous... friggin' ponderous.
