If what I have heard for the last couple of hours is what the station intends to sound like, then pull the plug NOW! It sounds like bulls--t! They are skewering much older. I would say even older than Eagle for now. Sad. I had hoped for something that would shake up the country radio battle in this market. This sux!!

Shake up Country how? Just curious what you are wanting. I also guess I missed something because I see it (hear it) as not so old of Country as 106. My cousin, who is NOT a Country Music fan said it best. Country Music is unique in that you can actually hear and understand the lyrics. What's wrong with a staion that mom, baby and grandmom can all listen too? Does everything have to drop to the crotch?

Let me make this simple for you. What I want is to not hear the same song on 2 stations at the same time more than 5 times a day. And that is when I am in my car at different points in the day. What I want is for someone to have the guts to play some of the GREAT country music that is being ingored. I never asked for undistinquishable lyrics or something grandma can't listen to. I'm not looking for "crotch" music. Where did that come from? Country music is very unique and can incorporate many other types of music. I just wish we could get the chance to hear some of it.
And by the way, the first day's playlist for the Bull did skew older. That has since changed, and I have noticed more of an emphasis on newer music.
If you are happy with 3 country stations essentially playing the same thing, then let your joy overflow. I prefer variety and choice, which other thatn station call letters, we aren't getting.

LOL I guess my "rants" did get jumbled together. The applepie-mom-no crotch rant was supposed to be on another thread. I was reading and posting too fast. Yesterday was a bad day. Come to think of it really is still "yesterday" as I didn't sleep last night. But anyways..........

I have liked eagle more because they played more of the older stuff. As you noted, that has been changing. I listen an average of 8-14 hours a day while working or driving, most of it continuously. Eagle didn't used to play the same song more than once from around 8-5 (maybe 7-5, I forget their exact "brag"). Of course if you are in your car at 6:45 and they play "Believe" and not listening til you go to lunch for a happy meal (where they play "Believe" again) and then stuck in traffic at 6:30 and hear "Believe" yet again you will think that all they play all day is "Believe". You will have missed almost 12 hours of different tunes. Am I making sense?

I'm with you on the variety. I got "hooked" on yay when they were playing southern rock and country. Then they stopped and went to "pop country" I think or maybe I quit listening to country at that time for a while. When I tuned back in they were playing a butt load of "old country" that I hadn't heard in years. Now they are "youngin' ing up" again, and while still better than kicks basically the same. I listened to The BS, I mean bull most of the day yesterday and had all I could stomach by around noon today. When I switched back to the Eagle the similarities were glaringly clear. But what choices are there in the Atlanta market? There isn't a single true rock station left. The "classic rock" stations play nothing but the same songs everyday. If they say they are coming up with some Steppenwolf you just KNOW it's gonna be Magic Carpet Ride or Born to be Wild. When is the last time you heard an Atlanta "classic rock" station play Traffic's Low Spark of High heeled boys? Or "light up or leave me alone"? How about Thick as a Brick from Tull? Get it together from GFR? ANYTHING from sneaking sally through the alley by Robert Palmer, BTO or The Guess WHo? How about Badfinger? The list a great songs and great artists they COULD play but won't on a "classic rock station" is endless.

I hope Eagle DOES go "southern fried rock" or what is sometimes called "Americana" which seems to be more of a rock based country with folks like Shooter Jennings, Emmylou Harris ect..... I saw Kid Rock on the CMT program called ''Outlaws" and he was doing Country. It blew me away, I thought he was hip hop or something. Like you, I prefer variety. If I want the same songs over and over I can play my CD's. But I hold little hope............ I heard there is an R&B staion that plays old motown stuff from the 60's and 70's. Maybe I'll give it a try for a while.........

Likewise, how many times have you tuned into a "2-fer Tuesday" and upon hearing Emerson Lake & Palmer "Karn Evil No. 9", of course it's going to be followed up with "Lucky Man" every time. (Unless it's December, at which point you may hear Greg Lake's "I Believe In Father Christmas" instead.)

Buzz Casey wasn't around CC Atlanta long enough to make much of an impact, so many of you probably don't even recognize his name. He chose not to hang around at 96 Rock and the Buzz when the uncertainty became evident. But, he came from Nashville where his Classic Rocker WNRQ went number ONE 12+, even ahead of the Country stations.

I didn't hear that he was going to do anything classic rock-wise there in the ATL, but he's the type of PD who liked to throw a curveball into the mix every now and then, like what you're talking about. He was my CR "PD Buddy" for a while when I was with CC in a smaller market, and he coached to wake it up with something out of the ordinary in now and then.

He wasn't careless about it, but made sure they were great rock songs, just ones you didn't play every day. He's doing his thing Phoenix now....with another company. Bad for CC....Buzz is one of the better PD's in the nation today.
