KXOL, or KROQ -- although I'm pretty sure that those sticks are a bit east on the mountaintop near the old KBBQ-AM site.

Slight edit, KFWB has mentioned that Infinity sticks are in danger.
Edited by myopic on 09/30/05 09:54 PM.

KXOL is on one of the iInfinity sticks, as is KROQ, and a KRTH backup.

Sure would be nice to have KFI at full power to give coverage when one of the news sticks goes down.

I know, I know, regulations and permit processes are more important that radio coverage in an emergency.

Again, KFI at 25 kw is only 25% less coverage than on 50 kw, and that can hardly be notied until you get to places like Kern County, the Apple valley, etc. Interestingly, in the first phaes of the summer book, KFI had ha higher ratings in San Diego, the IE, etc. than before the tower fell.

They ar erebuilding the tower, and expect it to be ready in early 2006. Most of the crews that put up big iron are in Texas and LA and MS where they are really needed.

None of the AMs is on a hill, anyway. AMs like to live in soft, alluvial or marshy land when they can, not on hills or mountains. The fires like the hills, not the valleys. FMs are high up, AMs, in the best of cases, are actrually in the ocean.
