----Funny to see Dan Dubonnet in the paper not defending John Brooks on his recent Winooski remark. he didn't have one supportive thing to say about John. Nice to get back-up from the boss, huh?----
----Like the ads for Northeast looking fire a new CEO. Is there anyone on the planet that really believes whoever takes this job will last more than 2 months in the Northeast rotating management wheel?----
----Corm and the Coach have a new sidekick. Like it will make a difference.----
----The Eagle is doing it's thing and sounding good but is anyone noticing? Tell your newspeople (probably out of market recording) to get the pronounciations right on the Vermont names. Speaker of the House is gaye SImington...not Gaye Simmington!----
----The news oldies format on 92.1 plays a decent selection of tunes but the local guys are doing NOTHING to make it more focused to the area. Not even an attempt. That certainly isn't GOODRADIO...is it?----

outta here

Typical broadcast executive. Any chance to throw an entertainer under the bus, they'll take it. Scumbags.

I always laugh when I read their want ads. "We want you to do 5 jobs, and we'll pay you 22 grand." I'd love to see a radio station post the GM's salary in these ads so we can see how badly they're ripping people off.

----Corm and the Coach have a new sidekick. Like it will make a difference.----

Is it a dude or a chick? Can't find anything on their site. I liked Corm's latest blog entry, though. I like how he still sweats the Wizard 10 years later. Funny stuff.

Check that AP pronunciation guide...

Is the ownership transfer official yet? Even if it is, why should whoever the owner is try to make it local? They've already indicated that they (big surprise) don't give a damn by sticking a bird format on the frequency. Typical Burlington radio. Cheap and/or lazy and/or stupid.

I wanted to respond to some of Ray D Oh's musings...

1) The world did not pivot off it's axis with the WKOL's DJ's remark about women from Winooski.. We live in such a totally Secular Progessive, Kool Aid Drinking Politically correct world these days, that keeping things vanilla will / can mean keeping your job regardless of what you do for a living.

2) the Current Northeast CEO has been with the organization for somewhere around 20 to 25 years. That is slightly longer than 2 months. Please make sure you have your information correct.

3) Corm and the Coaches new sidekick will make a difference with what ? She's just a couple of days in the new gig, I'm sure she'll be just fine and blend in nicely. A good addition to the team there.

4) I heard the miscue on the Eagle as well, not he first time it's happened at any radio station, won't be the last.
they are sounding good, and well executed. One would wonder if they are trying to get the attention of advertisers or perhaps a quick turnaround to a new potential owner. They are doings things right over there, just not hearing a lot of commercial matter yet..

5) 92.1 The True Oldies Channel.. Who cares where it comes from, the thing sounds totally fine for what it is.. There is local news, weather, traffic, and a well done satellite delivered radio station.. It is what it is.. The 92.1 frequency with it's very colorful 25 year history has had it's best listener and advertiser success doing an oldies based format. You can hear pretty much the same thing on a Chicago licensed full class B 50kw facility as well, and it is pulling in some pretty good numbers there.

1. You miss my point. The GM didn't even defend his longtime jock saying that was out of character, etc. No support my man.

2. Give me a break. Ed handles the tower rentals mostly...never acted as a CEO. People have been in and out of station management with the company like going through a rotating door.

3. No...i mean the sidekick won't make any difference. Still the same old same old with that show. LOW ratings.

4. I think the Eagle is good but they have to make scatch those things for the credibility factor.

5. I like 92.1 but a little more localization wouldn't hurt. I hear few local commercials on it. is that something you can do something about Jo Jo??

1) I didn't miss your point. The GM was not going add any more fuel to the fire, he did what he had to do to diffuse something that could have been ridiculously blown up into something worse.. Perhaps it was a kneejerk reaction to what happened with the I-Dude on a much larger scale.

2) I thought Ed was doing double duty, since he is based in Montpelier. Seems that Northeast tends to hold onto stations, and people can move up in that company there.. Didn;t the GM for the Point move upwards to the River in Haverill, MA ?

3) Again, give things time to work..

4) Agreed

5) Agreed, you'll certainly be hearing a lot more commercials there..

I'll agree that it seemed that Mr. Dubbonet (the real one) was not vocally supportive of John. I guess in this day and age, you have to appear that you shun the notion that someone might come up with an oddball comment for fear of appearing like you are losing control or something.

Even Guy Dark with his infamous "Did you try poison?" comment to a teenage caller on Q106, got a press release stating that Guy was otherwise a good performer in the area and would receive a 2-week suspension or something along those lines. (Though I don't know for sure, I can about bet they still used Guy just not on his own program.)

And he stayed on to be Q106's last act (barring Art Steinberg) from the 80s. Ted Bilodeau came back to PD after the fact, but not for very long.

Hey Ray D Oh
What do you expect from Mr White bread. He doesn't want to take any chances and possible upset someone. How could he support him if he thought the comment was wrong. TThe bottom line is Dan was doing his job. Give him a break.

Ed is a joke so I give you that

Corm and the Coach are 3rd in 25-54 numbers so you are wrong again. In my score book they are tied for 2nd best morning show in Vermont behind Mike and Chantel and tied with Lana and Nolan. The new girl has spunk and only a few days into it sounds like she will add to this award winning show. 14 years readers choice winners don't lie Ray

The Eagle is young and understaff but I believe they will effect woko

92.1 who care. The bottom line in the music is right on for the format.

SAJ--

Dan threw Jon under the bus--pure and simple. Heaven forbid that anything upset the almighty Hall squeaky-clean image.

As for Corm/Coach. That show has been on auto-pilot for years. They are just lucky howard got off terrestrial radio or they'd still be farther down in the dumper. My bet is the new owners will quickly realize coach is only on 1/2 the time and they are paying a lot of money for very little return. And the readers choice poll? give me a break. Everyone knows that Corm has been filling those out in bulk for years. God...that's even more unscientific than Arbitron!

And yeah...I hope eagle does cut into WOKO. DD got lucky when OKO went country. He had screwed it up for a long time before that.
