Burned out songs you still like

Are there some songs that are totally burned out to most people, yet you still like them?
Do you feel guilty about it?

I don't.

I have a few that I like and can't imagine I''ll ever dislike.

Let's start with Yummy Yummy Yummy by the Ohio Express.

"Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Whenever it comes on, up goes the volume on my car radio.

"More Than A Feeling" by Boston

All Beatles songs except for "Yesterday" and "Hey Jude".

"Get Ready" by Rare Earth. I will never tire of this rockin' remake.

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Diana Ross

I used to kind of feel the same way for "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" by The Four Tops, but I've grown tired of that one...but give me the remake by Donnie Elbert and I'm a fan again. "Reach Out, I'll Be There" by The Four Tops is one that I'll occasionally love hearing again for the zillionth time.

wouldn't it be a breathe of fresh air, instead of the zillionth time, to hear the following Four Tops TOP 25 hits...

#11 baby I need you loving
#24 ask the lonely
#4 It's the same old song
#18 wake me, shake me
#8 standing in the shadows of love
#4 bernadette
#14 seven rooms of gloom
#14 walk away renee
#4 aint no woman like the one I love

the same said, for many other artists like the TOPs that had a ton of hits ,and end up with huge playlists

Hotel California

Stairway to Heaven

Maggie May

Sweet Home Alabama

Don't Look Back

Dust In The Wind

No guilt involved, it's a personal thing:

Teach Your Children Well – CSN&Y
Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress – The Hollies
You’re Sixteen – Johnny Burnette
Sixteen Candles – The Crests
Blue Suede Shoes – Carl Perkins
(You’ve Got) The Magic Touch – The Platters
Primrose Lane – Jerry Wallace
Sugar Sugar – The Archies
Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison

This is very informative and mind boggling....Keep 'em coming.

Now, why do we continue to hear the greatness, despite the repetition?
Why do they seem impervious to the charring? Because we really like some particular style, or some other aspect?

"Surfin Bird" by the A-Bones

I was only 2 years old when this came out, and you better believe I noticed it!
I loved it, and still do, because it's out of control at the beginning, is manic the whole way thorugh, and barely stays in control,
it's all over the road, its LOUD, and it's the coolest thing from 1962. This a song for the genetically unmellow!
Songs like this were responsible for me not caring for the prevalent mellow pop of the 70's.
I was pretty worried until the Ramones came along.

If you're talking A-Bones ..you must include

Skakin' Stevens(England) - Green Door
Robert Gordon - Rockabilly Rebel
Stray Cats - Rumble in Brighton
Joe Jackson - Steppin' Out
Rocky Burnett - Tired Of Toein' The Line
and anything By "Rockpile" from England.

If you were 2 in 1984...that makes you what...28yrd old???......or did you mean 2 yrs old when the trashmen did it which would make about 50-51 ??????

NOW You've caught me in an error! :-[
Of course I meant the Trashmen....I think the B-side is ""A-Bone" and my brain glitched.
I'm 48 yrs old, and haven't gone mellow yet. 8)

as it turns out you inadvertantly errored correctly...in 1984 the A-Bones (a punk surf band) recorded "Surfin' Bird" they got their name from the Trashmen b-side "A-Bone" of the 45 "Bird Dance Beat"..the b-side to Surfin' Bird was "King Of The Surf"...the above info courtesy of Joel Whitburn.

Blue Moon Of Kentucky - Elvis
Twilight Time - Platters

Ronstadt's version of You're No Good is played ad nauseum, but it's still a funny song - kinda reminds me of a phone conversation.

But how about Betty Everett's December, 1963 version of the tune. Now that's funny. I'm no good just laughing over that one. ;D
