Burt and Kurt Good Clean Fun in the Morning!

Anyone remember Burt and Kurt, I believe thery were on KULF in the early 80's ?

I have fond memories of the Burt and Kurt show when they were in Tampa on WLCY and was happy to find them recently, streaming live on the internet. They are in Birmingham AL, on 2 shows. The first is a familiar format to me, Oldies but now with a twist. My old favorites, Red Wood and The Senator are there along with Uncle Mac, Elvis, Gomer, and other Kurt characters....brings back good memories and it is great to laugh along with them again and hear that good "old" music. They are on from 6 AM to 9 AM Eastern Time on Legends 1260.

Their other show is a Talk Radio program on WYDE 101.1 which I really enjoy also. I'd pretty much given up on radio until I found these guys again. On 9 AM to 11 AM Eastern Time.

I'm in the Birmingham market and I'm a fan of theirs, but why are you spamming all of these other boards for markets they're not in anymore?

Glad to see that Legends 1260 finally has its stream up, though. It's a very eclectic and fun station and everyone (especially oldies fans) should give it a listen.

To clichemoth:
I would hardly consider it spamming when it simply was the 3 boards in the areas they were in. You are a fan...maybe some of their fans from previous years are interested in where they are and would like to listen to them again...something that is now possible with the web.
And you said it yourself..."It's a very eclectic and fun station and everyone (especially oldies fans) should give it a listen."
I rest my case.

I'll give you that they were here and that was during the time of the change from KULF and KKBQ. However, I am compelled to point out that they were not here long enough to make any kind of an impact. KILT-610 was in it's transition from Top 40 to country. KRBE was kicking everybody's butt, including KILT-610. KULF was doing extremely poor at the time. I'm sorry, but radio folks like Stevens and Pruitt are remembered because of their many years as Hudson & Harrigan on KILT and back in Houston as themselves on 101 KLOL. Kenny Miles who was at KULF before the ax fell on everyone, spent many years at 104 KRBE as the morning drive announcer. Even London and Engleman who spent time on KULF, would be thought of before Burt and Kurt.

Additionally, the real hey-day of KULF was in the early 1970s, when they gave KILT-610 a run for their money. Jim Tate was the morning man along with David Fowler, doing the news. Hal McClain, Johnny Gilbert and Jeff Mack among otheres, were on KULF during this early 70's period. Although they gave it hard to KILT, they still couldn't beat them. After that time, KULF never recovered. It stayed on a a downward spiral till the end. That is why it was reborn as KKBQ. One of the reasons why it failed was because, the Houston audience was making the listening transition to FM as early as 1975. The top 3 AM stations around that time were KTRH, KPRC and KILT. KTRH and KPRC were news and could sustain longer than KILT.
So back to your original question: "Anyone remember Burt and Kurt, I believe thery were on KULF in the early 80's?" My apologies, but I don't remember them.

I apologize. These boards do tend to get a lot of shills and it's annoying after a while. But you're not one, you're just a fellow fan of the funniest team in Birmingham radio.

Speaking of not remembering somebody on the radio 20 years ago, I realized why I never heard them, much less heard of them. I was on the afternoon Radiomagazine 1070 KENR during their time on the air.
