Burt Goodman

For those who haven't heard. Burt died last Monday. I didn't find out until Friday. Memorial service on Saturday that I couldn't make because of prior commitment, however Burt will be missed. He was a guiding force in how I do news, and will forever be thankful. He was my news guy when I did mornings on the old K960. I never coiuld make him bust up during the news althouigh I tried. One really memorable moment however. I was ito doing "bits" in the morning and one was a satire on Mr Rogers......at the end of one of Burt's newscasts.....He stopped and asked "Mr Rogers" if it were true he was undressing in front of kids. Response was "Well I do change into a sweater...." Before I could finish, Burt started playing sound effects of slapping and punching and he kept saying "Take that pervert. and dono't ever take off yoiur clothes in front of my kids again." There was then a gunshot.....and ended Mr Rogers on my morning show. Burt was the best. John Gibson

Burt was one of those old-school news guys who knew his stuff, took no crap, and lived life the way he wanted to. He stepped on a few toes, but he was a genuinely decent person. Newsrooms today could use a few more Burt Goodmans who know the difference between news and crapola.

Rest in Peace.
