Businesstalkradio.net and Party 105

nd2023

Did businesstalkradio.net ever own all the TMO stations, including Party 105, or did they just lease 98.5?

No, they wanted to buy the TMO stations (and put an LMA on 98.5), but the deal fell through at the last minute.

It's amazing that we almost lost Party 105 many times. First we lost it for a few months to channelcasting. That failed, and the Party came back to life. It almost flipped to hip hop to compete with WBEA. Then BusinessTalkRadio.net almost bought out TMO. I'm sure they don't know how to run a dance station. At that time, Andre was the PD and Party sounded like Pulse 87 today. That deal failed. Vic Latino came in, and so did the hip hop. About this time last year, Party 101.5 came on the air and doubled the potential audience. Andre left for Pulse 87 last summer (his current on-air name Andre the DRE-dog still refers to the WDRE calls). Ex-KTU and BPM DJ and current Party morning host Vic Latino bought the remaining 2 TMO stations, and hopefully it stays dance forever.

Andre did not leave for pulse 87...he was let go by Vic and after a couple months acquired the job at Pulse.

Vic owns TMO Radio? I thought he was allowed to program them but I wasnt aware of this. Is that true?

..yes, it is true.

Is it? Perhaps not quite yet. Last I read John C was going to be the principal shareholder of JVC Broadcasting, and I guess Vic would have a minority interest.JVC would own Party and LaFiesta. Also, according to the FCC database, this deal has not yet closed. Finally, an LIBN article not too long ago also indicated that the deal had not closed yet. Previously, I believe John C had about a 2% stake in Jarad, and a bit less than that of holding company TMO.

Its possible that the deal closed recently and the FCC database simply isn't update yet.
In this day of very hard to come by small business credit, I'd keep an eye on this one.
