Busy news day? You'd never know it in Phoenix

OK, so it is the 4th of July, but we had a North Korean missle launch, and the shuttle go up (as well as the german football disaster).

So, I thought I'd give a listen to talk radio for some up to date news, KFYI had a old replay of Hannity, Ted Simonds was breathlessly telling us about how fireworks were made, he sounded like a 10 year old kid talking about his plastic dinosaur collection. So, growing more desperate I went to 960, evidently Shi**y and Hill were on with an old show, but it was hard to hear, because they were playing two things at once, nice work Patriot!

Growing more desperate, I reached down to 1310, some chick was talking about life coaching and relationships.

I then actually turned to 1100, thinking maybe Savage would be on, but what did I get from the worst station in town?

That's right, The Mortgage Show!!!! According to the host, its the most entertaining mortgage show on the radio! Yeah, and being stabbed to death is better than being burnt to death.

So, basically, we had one live show today, but after listening to Ted Simonds, I really have to wonder if he is, in fact, alive.

Happy 4th of July

Ah, yes, the ol' desperate holiday search along the dial...
I did hear a bit of Barry M. in for Barry Y. on KFYI--and Ms. Larson was live, right beside him.
(Prior to that, "Best of Bruce Jacobs" replays...)
Both Mike Anthony and Connie Webber came in for their regular KTAR AM shift, but as you expressed, not much news...
All the traffic reports reported--surprise, surprise--no traffic tie-ups today...
On KJZZ, Diane Rehm with Sandra Day O'Connor...I do admire their longevity, et. al., but their "collective longevity" was too much for my impatient state today.
Despite craving more substance today, as far as news goes, I do hope there will be no news of idiots breaking Shannon's Law or hurting themselves with fireworks. Per the callers on Barry M.'s KFYI stint this AM, we'd better pray...

Yu want current up to date news and talk... get Sirius or XM satellite radio, always the current topic and news on. Local radio has fallen so far into the ditch it doesnt seem to be able to get out, and that goes for music programming too.

I don't see what best ofs of old national shows says about news content, which is locally produced, but nevertheless... you'd think someone at one of Hannity's 2051 affiliates would be willing to sub on 7/4 for the exposure.

As to 1100, Savage has never in a year and a half been on before 5pm, so I don't understand why that would be an issue

I thought Savage was earlier, or that 1100 might actually have a local show, but the mortgage show was so fascinating! Did you know its the most interesting mortgage show on the radio? :D
