But do the changes make for better television???

Recently it seems like every time I watch "local" news, there's
a new face, regardless of the channel. With all those changes,
especially at KTVK/KPHO, have newscasts really improved???

I agree with landtuna...a huge "NO". Phoenix news still seems like more of a "medium" market product. I just spent 10 days in Seattle (similarly sized market) and their news quality is much better than Phoenix, even though two of Seattle's stations have gone through a huge transition to Sinclair and TEGNA.

Phoenix stations are taking the "hire cheap, lots of turnover" approach to television. I totally understand the changes at KTVK because the ownership situation was in limbo, so people start looking for jobs BEFORE they find themselves on the street. Then, when Meredith purchased the station, people started looking for jobs because they knew that there would be some consolidation.

No, they don't. WMUR in the small market of Manchester, NH put out a very polished newscast when I lived there a few years ago. Even KGUN in Tucson has a better product than most Phoenix stations...
