Buxton Area needs a CHR-POP really really bad. They don't get WZPR too well it's coverage is bad & so is hot 103 & hot 96.

What can you get in Buxton reliably anyways? Water Country and The Wind? Choices down there are limited...

And that's just because the transmitters are in Engelhard...

It's been awhile since I've been, but I think V103.3 WMGV comes in a little bit too. I'm suprised 96.3 doesn't come in better than it does.
______________

Don't forget WBUX, which I think is repeating WCPE, but still owned by WUNC. It has ceased to show at all in the non-comm ratings. Maybe the folks of Buxton ought to contact UNC about taking over the station and putting on a nice little community station with CHR/Country/whatever.

Both of the old WUNC relays on the Outer Banks are relaying WCPE, IIRC in glorious mono sound. It's suprising WUNC didn't keep up their "you listen to us" mentality by keeping them on all of the transmitters. Can you even hear 88.9 in Buxton?
______________

Yes. The coverage that sites like radio-locator show are misleading. The pattern is higly stylized supposedly to protect WHYC. It's a kidney shaped signal with one side going straight towards Greenville, and the other towards Buxton. Plus, they also have 250 watt "translator" there at 91.1.

There is no data yet for WUND, but the following is a good website to check out signal strength by zip.

WURI and WBUX no longer have any measurable audience, despite having strong signals over their communities. I would think the people at WUNC would be willing to listen to proposals. The agreement they have with WCPE is in place mainly because nobody has offered a competing service.

V Soft's signals by call sign in zip codes and V Softs signals by zip

Just chiming in here from Western North Carolina...

Living here near the mountains, I always envy the radio signals I get down east, including the Hatteras area. So, when Hatteras' radio signals are compared to say, Asheville's--or even worse when you travel farther west toward Sylva, Cherokee, and Franklin--does Hatteras not fare much better??
