Buying HD radio receivers

Everything is licensed and proprietary, no low cost radios because of expensive license fees and lack of competition, just cheaply made, overpriced, radios with spotty, limited reception.Save your money by NOT buying their junk radio and just listen to the internet streams most of the HD stations provide. That way you can get almost ALL of the HD stations, nationwide, reliably, for free! Something no one can can get by buying the expensive HD radio. There is no need for an HD radio, and almost no demand. Here is a link to the rest of the story:http://worldsupercaster.blogspot.com

Where can I buy the cheapest HD radio receiver? And can I buy one for my computer?
Right now that would seem to be the Boston Acoustics Radio Receptor HD at $299. Ostensibly you can get a $20 rebate from http://www.ibiquity.com (if you buy *any* HD radio), we'll see if that works. (a rebate for a piece of ham gear I recently purchased just "bounced" despite all directions being followed)Some quality problems have been reported with the BA receiver. Also, it should be noted that at least in my case, an outdoor antenna is necessary for HD reception if you're more than about 15 miles from the stations. (analog reception, on the other hand, is pretty good with this set. It should be, for $299<grin>!)I don't know of a HD Radio computer card.

Re: Buying HD radio receivers-What for?

Try these internet radios. They will pick up virtually all the HD Radio streams, plus over 15,000 other internet stations anywhere there is a wireless internet connection, without a computer or HD Radio.http://www.rokulabs.com/products/http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/19/roku-soundbridge-radio/http://www.torian.com.au/http://www.ccrane.com/radios/internet-radios/acoustic-energy-wi-fi-internet-radio.aspxYou already have a computer, so virtually all the hundreds of HD Radio streams are available from the internet (see station websites and HD Radio listings). Plus many XM satellite stations, 15,000 webstreaming stations, innumerable podcasts, and probably the Serius and other satellite stations (although I havent checked the net for Sirius yet).If you want HD stations around your house and yard, just get a small FM stereo transmitter, connect it to the audio output of your computer, and listen to them on any of your FM radios. Here is an inexpensive FM stereo transmitter that goes in your computer and can transmit all around your property:http://www.progressive-concepts.com/info/item.html?id=288There are also small, inexpensive FM stereo transmitters from Belkin, CCrane, and dozens of others, that can do the same:http://www.ccrane.com/radios/fm-transmitters/fm-transmitter.aspx

I never had any luck with really any fm transmitter that I baught, I gues my house is just to big.

The Radiosophy radio will be $269 and is supposed to come out in late June. I got to play with one of them at NAB and it worked great.JVC has a car model for $279.Have not heard about anything for a computer as of yet.Check EBay as some models are coming up there.

Peddling HD Radios again?Just listen to the internet stream, (most stations have them) or your MP3 player, and save your money for your next computer. Most stations broadcast a repeating playlist of hundreds of tunes and little else, except commercials. Who needs an HD Radio for that? Are news, weather, commercials and talk supposed to be better in 5.1 digital surround sound? To answer the question "Are you deaf yet?"The answer is, "Only if you can't hear HD Radio's buzzing digital interference".

Don't you really deserve something better than the cheapest?
