I'd say it is. They've proven the signal can get listeners based on the #'s. They are top 10...

WMUU has a pretty decent clean signal and is well established. I've seen
this station before and it is a pretty classy set-up. Kind of hate to see it
get sold..
______________

Top 10? AM 1260? I don't think so.

>Would "Pop40" radio ( dance friendly hits mixed
with some mainstream rock and top40 hiphop) "fly"
on am 1260 ? or, would it have to be, basically...
a "newschannel_1260AM" 'kinda' station ???

It's been a very traditional.mellow Christian station for many years,
I believe. A colleague sold air time for them a number of years ago.
Even as a Christian broadcaster, not my cup o' tea, but I guess it's worked for them..

Kind of hard to picture dance and top 40 flying on THAT station..LOL!
______________

Forget Dance or Top 40 on this, or any A.M station, they wont put up with the sound and signal...Besides that, S.C is about the last place you want to go with a Dance Format, except for (MAYBE) the Myrtle Beach market. Upstate S.C and (DANCE), forget it, that area is way too conservative. And they have never had a Dance intensive station, except for a little Dance on the old Power 93.3 when they had the WBBO Calls, and a top 40 format, but thats been History since 1993.

Depends on whether you want to build on the foundation of what this station has been for 50 something years, or whether you plan to walk away from that.

WMUU stands for "Worlds Most Unusual University". Though the station is a stand-alone not-for-profit corporation, this station can be thought of as a part of Bob Jones University. I don't know how much they have changed during the years but there was a time when a boy-student and a girl-student at Bob Jones were an item, you were not allowed to even hold hands as you walked across the campus. Conservative, conservative, conservative. For those of you into sorting our religious groups: FUNDAMENTALIST. Their current book of business and listening audience is tightly focused around what was called "family values" in the last election. If you are going to pay $900,000 for an AM frequency today, you might not want to "dis" the existing audience base and advertiser base.

Turn the station on some morning with hip-hop would probably create one more pointless, aimless AM station struggling to make payroll.

Boy am I out of the loop to have missed this one! Looks clean. I'd say it's worth it. That sounds pretty close to stick value for that market.

If it's not holy-roller or Hispanic, I have no clue what you'd do with it though.
