Buzz and Myspace

I saw that banner as well. It said something about "Vote for the Buzz"...

It certainly can't hurt for the buzz to have a MySpace page. I think it's a new and creative way to use marketing dollars....doens't neccessarily means it's the most WISE move, however.

I don't see 99x posting big banners like that up there. I know they have a page (along with most of the jocks), but they don't advertise it. In that area, it gives the Buzz a leg up on 99x.

I imagine it is regionally targeted. I.e. you don't see that add if you're from outside of the Atlanta metro area. Most marketing is shotgun. This seems to be a lot more targeted.

That's true. People outside of metro Atlanta probably don't see it. Buzz probably provided them with a list of metro zips and asked that people registered on MySpace with any of those zips would see that banner (in rotation with all of the other banners that come up).

Yup, it's brilliant. Well targeted, well thought out...and impactful on a vehicle with a high emotional attachment.

Yep, and they all love "American Idol", text messaging, and the sophisticated aural nuances of Good Charlotte.

Yup, you nailed it.

Myspace is about to be buried under a ton of lawsuits. Look for it to go away in a year or two. If I was advertising on it, I'd disassociate myself from them soon.
