At the beginning of this year, 105.3 The Buzz had 9 jocks:
Whip
Aly
Chris
Aaron
Doubledown
Wendy
Dank
Knox
Blake

Now, they've lost almost 1/2 of those people...
Overnighter Doubledown went to be PD at 98 Rock in Tampa back in June
Weekender (and former 96.7 afternoon host) Dank left last month to go to Playboy Radio
Weekender Wendy left about the same time Dank did and is going to do afternoon drive at 96Wave in Charleston

Now...Night host Aaron has left as of Friday to go work for a new internet based media company called WEBRADIOVISION. Aaron will still do the Homegrown Buzz show at 8pm.

It looks like Knox is going to be taking over the night shift, overnights remain jockless, and Blake is the only weekend DJ currently around. They'll probably just get Aly to host all the other weekend slots- that girl doesn't seem to get too many days off!

So many of the Buzz jocks moving on to bigger things all at once. Can anyone think of a time in Atlanta radio when so many jocks left a station so close together?
Especially on a relatively new station?
Just something ironic I noticed.
 
They really don't need that many jocks, in fact I bet most of the time you're listening to a tracked show. Especially if you hear Aly outside of middays.
 
I'm not sure how much has changed (outside of Aly away from middays)...but aside from DoubleDown on overnights, most shifts were actually live.

None of the jocks on the "Buzz" have the, "I don't want to miss their show" factor.
Whip couldn't get ratings at night for X, Aly is a good, straight forward, music jock, and Chris is, well, Chris. I don't think he's EVER made me laugh. The music is king there, I get that, but where are the rebel jocks? It's the hardest station in town, and all the jocks sound like the nerdy kids in high school trying to act like they're cool. Where's the attitude? The funny? The "I don't care if I get fired" sound that is associated with rock? The jocks on the "Buzz" are interchangeable, and maybe that's how CC Atlanta wants it to be. That way they don't have to pay jack squat for talent.

Perhaps you should get an mp3 over there and show them how it's done. Seems you know alot about the business and must be pretty good on the radio.

I think it's hard to say format change when one jock leaves to become the PD of a station in Tampa. One goes to do a full time airshift in Afternoon drive for Dave Rossi in a great city. Another moves to LA to do Playboy Radio. Another moves on to pursue something he seems to be passionate about. It's like the Perfect Storm of people moving on to really great things. I say good job to the Buzz for growing their jocks to where other people want to hire them.

I'll ask this because I don't know the answer, What's the track record of other stations' part timers. Have any of them moved on to bigger and better things, like we've just seen at the Buzz?

Most of the Buzz shifts are not live. They track most of their shows (w/some possible exceptions) in typical Clear Channel fashion.
 
Actually, all of the Buzz DJ's are right here in Atlanta and live on last check. Rodney Ho, can you confirm if that info is still correct?

First of all, Dank's move to Playboy radio was due to his producing skills that he acquired from the RG's show all these years, and NOT because of his jock skills.
Wendy went to work for Rossi because the girl Dave wanted accepted a job to do mornings at 98rock Tampa. Aaron is bailing to work for an Internet based medium?
Wow... what does that say about the money CC puts into the "Buzz?" Not much.

Personally, I like the "Buzz." I think Chris is doing a great job programming the station.
But the Buzz has ALWAYS taken a back seat to KLS, Lite, and now VIVA. Too bad that the suits at CC just don't get it.

Yeah, I'll cop to being a sensitive little girl, true. But I do have guts and refuse to hide behind a pseudonym while I talk shiite. The same can't be said for you. By the way, I had a great 1st 4 months, ratings-wise, at X and then the PD, i forget his name, shortened my shift (much better than Touchers #'s, actually, look it up) because he/it didnt get it. And then my last book would've gotten me my ratings bonus but I'd been booted outta there by the. It's all for the best, I didnt fit with the wine and cheese party jocks they had/have there anyway. So, are you gonna come out? Or are you gonna stay gutless? Guess which option I'm picking for you? Toodles

Gutless of course... You know how this biz is man. You never know who you'll end up working with.
You and I have worked for the same company before, and may work together again someday.
I'm not trying to start sh*t with you man... You are doing mornings in a big market, and I'm not.
