Buzz on 1030 WNOW Miny Hill Charlotte

A solid BUZZ (no audio) has been going on for days! I finally reported it to owner Norsan Media. At first the nice gentleman didn't seem to know what I was talking about but he got the idea when I let him hear it over the phone.

Does the owner have anyone on the payroll who listens to this 10,000 watt daytimer?

Norsan has a nice C3 FM facility here in the upstate of SC that was off the air, just a dead air carrier before Christmas I believe and then after for almost a week. Just 2 weeks ago, same thing on one of their translators and the HD subchannel they lease to feed it.

Engineering isn’t this company’s strong suit.

Neither is digital content. One of their stations changed their branding and profile picture on social media weeks before a format flip that was supposed to be a surprise.

Yep, when they bought 106.3 in GSP here in SC it took them months to get the website correct. Per Norsan:

"The Dominant Platform among Hispanics" - Nielsen, 2023”

I somehow find that very difficult to believe.

I wouldn't doubt that terrestrial broadcasting had been the dominant platform amongst Hispanics at the time. I know a lot of Hispanics here in New Jersey who don't get their news from social media, nor television, but instead from the morning hot talk shows on WSKQ and WXNY.

Oh, I mistook that. I read that to mean NORSAN was saying their “platform” was the dominant platform among Hispanic listeners. My bad! I do completely agree.

Well now WNOW 1030 has gone to a dead carrier....

Obviously their only interest is in the FM translator for WNOW.

Dead carrier, no ID, no audio, FCC rule violation and nobody cares.

Get a bunch of other people to file FCC complaints with recorded audio proof over multiple days, and they will.

actually, as far as i know, the only rule violation isnt running a legal id. if they can demonstrate they havent lost control, they can program whatever they want, which could be dead air... as long as they id.

thats how i interpret the rules. im probbaly very wrong.. and thats ok.

But if the AM is dead air while the FM translator is running normal programming, that would make the FM translator violate the rules. Translators can't originate their own programming.

If your AM is off the air, you can file a silent STA, but then you also have to shut down the FM translator.

Ah ha! i missed that mention

Im both are fed over the air and they dont have a silent sensor installed and the feed at the am site crapped out
