This morning on the Rod Ryan show, Kid Rock's "Cowboy" was played twice. Once in the 7 and once in the 9am hour. This song became popular in 1999. It's not old enough to be considered as gold as Nirvana's "smells like teen spirit," but it is a gold re-current.
I'm just curious about what some of you think about playing re-currents? Should a radio station's playlist, particularly an alternative station's, make sure NEVER to repeat the same gold in the same day?
Generally The Buzz never does this, nor do most alternative stations.
You would expect them to play current hits at that frequency, but not a six to seven year old song.
