For those of you who missed the old WCBS-FM last year when they flipped to "Jack", guess what! I got an aircheck of CBS-FM's HD2 where they still playing oldies on 101.1. I got this aircheck off the internet stream. For those of you I posted those airchecks from WBPM up in the Hudson Valley where they still carry the oldies format as "Cool 92.9" during the last several months, I had an idea of posting an aircheck of CBS-FM HD2 for the first time where they still plays the same oldies as WBPM's "Cool 92.9" does now. This is outside of "Jack" when they still playing all kinds of stuff mixing with heavy rock. I don't listen to "Jack" on standard broadcast radio today, but thanks to the internet stream for playing oldies on HD2. I missed WCBS-FM when it was an oldies station in New York City where they used to have great jocks like Harry Harrison, Bill Brown, Cousin Brucie, Bob Shannon, Ron Lundy, Don K Reed, Bobby Jay, Dan Daniel, Dan Ingram, Norm N Nite, Max Kinkel, Marc Summers, Mike McCay and a bunch more. I used to listen to WCBS-FM since I was a kid, but now, I don't listen to "Jack", the new format at 101.1 since they changed it last year. I wish Steve West has tons of airchecks from the old WCBS-FM when it was oldies.
Back in July, John Y. posted a link to a "Jack" aircheck. After I was listening to an aircheck on "Jack-FM", it stinks, so I posted another aircheck from WBPM awhile back when still playing the oldies on 92.9 in the Hudson Valley including Poughkeepsie where they still playing to it.
If you listen to this aircheck, you hear nothing but oldies, a lot of the same songs as being heard on WBPM's "Cool 92.9" right now, and some of them don't. It has some catchy liners made by Ziggy and the classic jingles from WCBS-FM during the last 33 years as an oldies station. I love the CBS-FM jingles, that would be a fitting climax of the station's 33-year history. This is to everybody who missed CBS-FM during the last year as an oldies staion. Enjoy!
