BYB MUNCIE MM

So what's the deal with Steve? Do the stations have a chance in the marketplace or are they "just" there? I thought Bruce was doing a pretty good job?

Antenna....I don't think BYB has an Anderson station. The job listing for a Market Manager on Indiana Broadcasters Association only mentions the Muncie-Marion group.

Unless things have changed over the past year or so, Backyard operates two facilities for their Muncie/Anderson stations.

The WLBC and WXFN studios as well as sales and traffic for all of the stations are housed in Muncie.

The other facility is located in Daleville (halfway between Muncie and Anderson) and houses WERK, WHBU, and the Max syncrocast. The market manager oversees both facilities.

In addition, I'm pretty sure they have an auxilary facility at the Mounds Mall in Anderson where the local morning show for WHBU is broadcasted from.

As far as the stations go, WLBC, WXFN, and WERK are licensed to Muncie, WHBU is licensed to Anderson, WMXQ to Hartford City, and WMQX to Alexandria. WLBC is Hot AC, WXFN is ESPN sports, WERK is classic hits, WHBU is talk, and WMXQ/WMQX are classic rock.

Backyard doesn't operate anything from Marion--just Muncie and Daleville.

The only commercial group I know of that operates out of Marion is Vox, which owns classic hits WXXC, country WCJC, sports WMRI, and talk WBAT.

:D Odd they would make Muncie/Marion an Arbitron location. The last numbers I could find for them were from '09. WMDH seemed to be gaining ground against WLBC. Do you think the new MM will make some changes? The past posts on Steve Lindel were not very positive, but maybe they will promote from inside the company?

BYB as a whole seems to be a by the books operator from the experience of friends that currently or have worked with them. Fairly stable, low turn over, no real WOW factor, but then again none of the things you hear so many other people complain about with their employer either.
