BYE BYE AMP

Heard from three very credible sources, one completely shocked me as they are within the walls of the company, Artistic Media Partners could be changing hands soon (2012).

MIDWEST COMMUNICATIONS owner of stations in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota has a serious eye for WHCC, WBWB, WAZY, WBPE, WSHY-A, WSHP. This of course would help them in filling in some spaces around their Terre Haute cluster. Plus WBWB and WAZY are in their wheelhouse when concerning Top 40 stations.

MIDWEST FAMILY BROADCASTING has stations up the street in Saint Joe so adding WNDV-A/F, WZOW, WSMM, WPNT-A, WDND-A. Midwest Family could have a heyday in South Bend with those stations!

Not sure why this is happening all of a sudden, maybe Artie has a couple big payments or something? I figured WBWB, WHCC would go to another operator.

Uh, MIDWEST COMMUNICATIONS and MID-WEST FAMILY BROADCASTING are two completely different companies. They are not the same people.

I don't see "Artie" going into retirement anytime soon. As an 8.5-year employee of WNDU under its extemporary stewardship of the University that its [former] call letters carry [Notre Dame], I have followed this current drama with interest and sadness over the years. One dear friend from U93's era of excellence still manages to work there and fills me in on a regular basis.
For the record: WNDU-FM in its hey-day excelled in its promotion FAR-MORE than its on-air product, but it was a good broadcast citizen and a great place to work and launch a career. The circa 1980s management there was EXCEPTIONAL – GREAT folks!
The intervention of Artistic Media is... [I'll allow you to fill-in here] :p
On cursory review [not armed with all the facts], I don't see them selling – maybe a lackluster facility here 'n there, but the company is committed by financial due-diligence AND EGO to remain. AMP will continue to feed its speakers. :'(

I misunderstood that you were speaking of BOTH companies having an interest in buying.

I work for Mid-West Family. Every one of my fellow managers has laughed at the idea of us buying anything in South Bend.

Another GM in Lafayette? You would think that they should keep at least one guy in place. Best to ever walk through those doors was a guy by the name of Rick, amazing GM used to work for him at Cumulus.

Would Sarkes ever be interested in buying more? Thats a great little company.

Their WTTS has disappeared from the Indianapolis Arbitron for March which now lists subscribers only. Looks like they're not buying the book, let alone other stations.
