OK, so I don't listen to much terrestrial radio anymore. I just noticed that "The Bear" is no longer on 98.9. I assume they're still on 97.9? I understand the company sold out to K-Love to the tune of $700K. Too bad. Pretty good station, especially by today's standards. As for K-Love, geez... how many stations does EMF think they need? What is it now, 400+?
 
Well, this isn't right.

Besides, K-Love is already in that market.

I had to get a tire replaced and as I sat and waited I realized I was hearing K-Love. Not as bad as I remembered, but not pleasant. I really don't like hearing people sing about how happy they are.

On the other hand, when the musical style is that of BBN, I feel better about it.
 
I saw a headline on another site. If The Bear was on 97.9, it's not any more.

I repeat: this isn't right. Country radio is garbage. We need stations like The Bear.

I saw the headline you're referencing. That 97.9--slated to sign on as variety hits "G 97.9" is actually a translator station that will rebroadcast an HD-2 channel of 94.3/Farmville. The full-power Bear 97.9, WNBB/Bayboro, should be unaffected save for some likely interference--especially in the northwestern quadrant of its coverage area towards New Bern.
 
Thanks. I was afraid to read the article. But with the new K-Love affiliate, this still affects WNBB, since it no longer has the simulcast partner to cover this area.

WEZV had the same thing happen in Florence SC with a hip-hop translator that causes far more interference than a low-power station should.
 
Sure was a sad day for me. I loved listening to the Bear. All I get on 97.9 in Greene County is a scratchy G979 and occasionally bits and pieces of a great country song. Maybe one day a programmer will realize that people still want to hear 80's 90's and 2000's country and a lot less tractor rap or whatever the kids are calling it these days!
