Bye Bye Hot FM

Let's be honest ... The HOT FM was done back when John Rieley tanked it with his excessive jock changes and logo change. When was the last time Coke or Pepso changed their logo? The old logo was fine.

Imus will be on 94.1,not 94.3 my mistake....
Let me take a stab at the 94.3 lineup

6a-9a Talk of the Town
9-12 Laura Ingram
Neil Bortz and Michael Savage will figure in as well as will O'Riley in a smaller role.I would think maybe Sporting News Radio Overnight.
Boy Savage is going to raise some eyebrows around here.It will be interesting to see if he will fly in this area.I gotta feeling the phones and email will stay busy
with people for and against "The Savage Nation"That will be fun.WGBR is Goldsboro ran Savage
for awhile, dropped him in a dispute with the network and now he is on again.
Again, this is just my very uneducated opinion on some the The New Talk FM 94.3's programming. Also I think Patrick Johnson may play a larger role in the station's day to day operations.Patrick is a talented guy.He will soon move on to a bigger market if that is what he wants to do.The big question mark still revolves around the ECU factor...That is the big domino that will fall and determine alot of things.

Allen

If ISP gives a crap about ECU, then they need to let 94.3 run at least basketball and baseball.

I agree... Henry has done alot for the university. When stations wouldn't touch or won't touch basketball or baseball Henry has always stepped up.I love ECU basketball and baseball but let's face it,they ain't money makers for radio.

There's a graphic up now proclaiming the Hot FM dead and Kool alive. And that Imus will be on 94.1. Alright then. I never really have seen him as fitting for a music format, especially one that is at least 50% directed at women.

I have the station on and the DJ's are "Counting down to the meltdown, the end of the Hot FM at midnight" AND they sound live, so they must all still have jobs at Inner Banks. Are Blake, Dylan, and Christie all making the transition to oldies?

I'm not able to listen tonight since I am working the door for a function where we have a band. Oh well such is life.

I'm recording the whole thing, starting about 15 minutes ago, in MP3 format. I'll post the files sometime in the next few days.

They're counting down the top 3 songs from each year, starting in 1990. And actually playing some old jingles from the old Hot FM.

I'm gonna miss Hot.Dylan is a really nice person.I'm sure he'll be with Kool.
He is a good asset to Inner Banks. He works hard and leaves his ego at home.
Henry and Don are lucky to have him..

And that's the end of that. Crystie and Blake are going to be DJ's on Thunder Country. They didn't say where Dylan is going.

They turned the 94.3 carrier off before they started the Kool intro. I guess since it's not a part of the new station they didn't want us to hear it up here in Greenville. Makes sense though. Everything from 5:20 or so forward I have recorded, up until the carrier was shut off. I can't get 94.1 in Greenville so I don't have the Kool launch. I'll post the files tomorrow hopefully.

Happy new year everyone!

The end has come ...

and so they are gone ... I managed to sneak out just in time to hear the last 15 mins. of the show ... I'll start podcasting Bob & Sheri ... and either find a new station to listen to music or buy a CD player for my office. I'm going to miss this station very much. I've listened to the Hot FM from its inception, oh well .... I wish everyone there the best of luck in whatever paths they take.

Thanks man.I heard alot of it. I'm glad the Hot guys and gals have a job... I wish they had done more with the old jocks. In my opinion Gina was the shining star of the Hot FM.They should have never let her get away.I know her pretty well and if she left, she had a good reason. She is one of the most talented and professional people in our business.Bob better hang on to her.She is just a good person.Dylan is a great guy as well.Lets face it, Archway put the nail in the Hot FM's coffin. The current regime just threw the dirt on it....

Allen

Archway did kill Hot, but I don't necessarily think that the current people furthered it. They had a good format going, it's not something anyone else in this market is doing. It just needed a little tweaking.

Anyone know where Dylan ended up?

I hope Henry keeps Dylan. He has a great attitude and work ethic. He is one of those guys I've never heard a bad word about and for good reason he is just a very likeable person. He lasted through so much crap and that is a credit to his
abilities. If he does leave he would be a great hire for someone...

WKTC and WSAY morphed into The Big Dawg 98.5 WDWG, so in essence those two are still around. Just not on individual frequencies. IMO WSAY was OK, but I think The Big Dawg is better. There's a lot more you can do with the moniker than with "The SAY Team" I mean come on that is such a lame moniker it's pathetic. But of course I'm biased as I work for The Big Dawg....

When you SAY Country SAY 98.5 would have been a great slogan.I agree the say team was pretty bad.they were hooked up with Murfreesboro and that's why they used that,What a nightmare Murfreesboro was.Shawn Matthews probably still has nightmares as does Mick Pruden.I wonder what Gordon does
on Friday afternoons these days????? I miss Rob Lynn.. He was a great guy.
I don't think he is in radio anymore..."I'm sorry sir I don't know where Gordon is... no Amy isn't around either....may i take a message" ::)

The WKTC I miss is the old 96.9 with Large Larry, the Friday Night Dance Party, and my boy Mike Coats.

Mike Coats may still be at MIX 101.5 at least he's still on thier bio pages.

The late Large Larry English left Katie Country for WSAY. I'm told he collapsed and died in the SAY building while talking with a colleague. If memory serves, he was replaced by Mark Edwards. Edwards was gone in pretty short order. Eventually, Rick Braswell got the morning slot, and remained thru the shift to 95.5 around 1998.
