And CBS-FM was in the top 10 when it got flipped.... everything
is fair game...

The differences are huge.

WKTU is a pure 25-54 play. That is the sales demo.
WCBS-FM had 60% of its listeners over 55. Thant is out of the sales demo.
WKTU is billing in the hight $30's.
CBS-FM had declined 20% in billing since 2000, while market revenues were up the same amount, for a net loss of 40%.

KTU can be maintained as a huge biller. CBS-FM was dropping horribly. CBS-FM had an "unsalable" audience that got older every year. KTU has a prime demo and a nice, niche format.

There have been cases of top 3 station flipping over revenue (KJUL in Las Vegas is a good example) but it is unlikely a top biller would flip.

My guess would be that 'NEW would perhaps benefit more on this. They haven't been around as long enough with the format as 'KTU and they are in more desperate need of the numbers. Not saying that 'KTU isn't but if 'NEW went that direction and stayed focused on it they would improve billings. 'KTU MIGHT get a semi boost of the female audience but for those that want currents, 'KTU would be abandoned. Kinda like when Hot 103 came to town...those of us that used to listen to Kiss and BLS during that time never really went back.
