Bye Bye (or adios) Bob in Waco?

According to a former co worker of mine who now works there, M&M has dropped the Bob format on 101.3 and 1590 for Spanish-language "La Caliente." Can anyone confirm?

It was still Bob-fm as of yesterday but not this morning......hopefully there will be another attempt at either a doc or Bob type format down the road somewhere............

This flip has been in the works for over a month. The new format, reportedly, is also being simulcast on 106.9 in Kempner.

What was being broadcast on 106.9 in Killeen used to be hip hop, then flip to Latino music. I would thought ratings for hip hop would have been higher in Waco where the station was broadcasting from.

The curious thing is that 106.9 Kempner/Killeen has changed calls from KHLE to KOOV. Given the history of the KOOV calls in the market -- longtime (20+ years) country station on what is now KSSM 103.1 -- I wonder if 106.9 is going to something else or are the owners warehousing the calls for some other purpose?

104.9 in Waco is still hip hop. The station out of Kempner (106.9) is now simulcasting a different Waco station (1590/101.3).

Killeen does not have a local Spanish station, so the move on 106.9 makes sense.

You may be onto something! I'm guessing they are warehousing the KOOV call letters. 106.9 is a fringe signal that only reaches Temple on a good day, if that. Country won't work without Temple and Belton. Meanwhile, there have been rumors of M&M Broadcasting doing country (or Texas Country) in Killeen/Temple. Whether it would be local or a simulcast of Waco's 92.9 is anyone's guess. I'm thinking simulcast.
