Las Vegas Bye bye Stolz... KFRH is now KVPH

104.3 went from ghetto to gospel real quick.

VCY will do it right and restore the facility to its real licensed configuration. It would take an act of God for Ed to get that station back.

Meanwhile, "someone" bit off a bit more than they can chew with 790 and 103.1. They were pushing people to change their radio preset on the 17th, but without KBET running, therebis no way they will be able to light up that translator.

If it's VCY, it's still ghetto (they talk more about Trump than Jesus.)

Ed couldn't get back 106.5 Sacramento. He'll never get back these other stations

A Fisher-Price walkie talkie can be heard farther than KBET

790 covered the market fine when it was running properly, it's just that the ROI doesn't exist to restore that facility to it's licensed configuration. Add in the OPEX that is generator maintinance, and it just isn't worth it.

790 with 1kw day and 300 watts night can not possibly cover the market well today. With a needed 15 mV/m signal over urban areas to overcome most interference, It gets a truly usable signal over less than half the market in the daytime and less than a quarter at night. The translator actually does better than a low power AM.

You can tell me what the math says, but I saw it with my eyes and heard it with my ears. The point still stands, that the facility is not economically viable.

For the record, VCY America is about half Christian talk and teaching and half Traditional Christian music. Never Christian Contemporary. They don't believe in it.

Some of the talk and teaching shows are produced in-house. And some are the national radio ministries heard on commercial religious stations, such as John MacArthur and Adrian Rogers. Some radio pastors spend time talking about Trump but I don't think that happens much on VCY America. Two of the radio hosts, Charles Stanley and J. Vernon McGee, are dead. Their old recordings are what still is playing. So you don't hear much Trump talk on those tapes.

The AM is only good if attached to a decent translator. Keeping it running at that power is inexpensive and simple, and a good translator in Las Vegas can reach up to about 75% to 80% of the market decently.
