Bye Bye WINK FM - SW Florida

Station is stunting change at 10am - WINK becomes a thing of the past. Also, Elvis Duran no longer on and moving to CC Y100 (100.1) on Wednesday. Any prediction of the format flip and why?

Format flips are one thing - but I sure hate to see legacy stations give up their long-standing classic call letters.

That was it??? OK they have 80s added----so can anybody tell me what else is different about them? (I live 100 miles away but can hear it so-so.)

They want MORE? OK then, let's add 50s, 60s, 70s...... :D

Edit---I saw the website; I do like that logo, looking like a CD.

Web site is the identical layout and style of New York's new Nash-FM 94.7. Not only are these stations now sounding geographically generic on air but now we're getting to the point where everything looks the same online too. :-\

I know Mix 104.7's signal is limited north of Ft. Myers, but isn't the "More" format nearly the same? I echo a previous poster; I hate to see Heritage branding/call letters go away. Sad day for radio in SW Florida.

This web style was discussed on the NYC board back when Nash launched.
It looks so simple, yet the creativity can not be denied.
I would nominate tise Nash-style web site for an award.
Of course, it will get old after we see it on a dozen or so stations.

Yes, the website looks good. But there are only white artists on the website. There's no info on it other than "The New 96.9 More FM" and the photos of 6 artists. You either can click "Contests" or "Listen Live." That's it.

The photos are:

Adele
Journey
Katy Perry
Bon Jovi
Madonna
Maroon 5

So three artists from today, three from a couple of decades ago, all white. Is anyone of color in the room when management decides what photos they'll use for their website? How can you forget to include someone who isn't white when you're choosing artists for the website of your AC station? AC isn't Country or Rock. There are quite a few artists of color who could be included.

Why do these big corporations insist on removing Heritage branding from stations? The Wink brand has a great deal of loyalty in Southwest Florida. Clear Channel brought the "SHE" branding back to Miami - only to drop it less than a year later.

You better know your laws, mister! - The Bridge Tender

That is absolutely correct sir!

Frequently "Heritage" becomes "Outdated". The call sign is still WINK-FM.

Maybe the "SHE" rebranding failed because too many people remembered the WSHE of old, which had nothing to do with the recent "WSHE"...

I can't say as I've ever heard anyone complain about the color of the artists on a website!

With WINK-FM's format, I don't think Heritage meant outdated. It is not like WINK-FM rebranded as an image-conscious CHR/Pop station. If anything, their new sound skews a bit older.

In terms of SHE, all CC was doing was replacing "Jack," or some other hypothetical Variety Hits branding, with "SHE." Now, Miami gets yet another station that doesn't seem to fit the market.

WINK-FM as "MORE" is, to my ears anyway, a Bob/Jack station for females. And yes, WINK-FM was considered outdated.
