ByeBye "Boulevard," I never got to know you.

Sorry if I’m posting in the wrong place. If I am, let me know. Also, I’m posting this late because I haven’t had a working computer.

I read about the disappearance of AAA station KBLV “The Boulevard” (99.7 Kansas City, MO), and it’s flip to CHR “Kiss.”

I’m disappointed. I don’t live in Kansas City, or Missouri, for that matter, but I always wanted to hear the station online. I never got to hear it, however, because with my adaptive talking software I use, I could never find the link to the stream.

So, I thought I’d ask the Missourans on here, those who heard it anyway, what was “The Boulevard” like? What artests did it play?

I know this for sure: With a name like “The Boulevard,” it had to be good radio.

If anyone can respond, I’d appreciate it.

I can't answer your question since I live in Saint Louis. I just thought you should know that there is very, very little activity on the Missouri forum. I hope some one from Kansas City answers your question.

I got a chance to listen to it a time or two but not much more. My old friend and former co-worker Mo Louis did mornings there. The Boulevard really didn't sound much different from the old 99.7 KY. It was a little more centered in the late 80's/early 90's of classic rock but had very few new artists. It also had a deeper playlist than a typical classic rocker, but it was very similar to what it replaced. That was part of the station's problem. Another was that AAA takes awhile to grow, and Entercom only gave it a year. That just wasn't enough time.

Another explanation was the reformatting was t get rid of all its "older" jocks, some of whom sued for age discrimination.
There was a lot of talk about the situation on the news and at the gatewayradio forum.
