When I was in college I applied for a weekend shift on the station. Here's some more tidbits about the station. This was in 94, 95 ish so things may have changed.
1) They had 2 CD players, both commercial quality, one was a portable CD.
2) It was located in a barn-like building with a front door that didn't lock. The GM who interveiwed me said if someone comes in on Sat night its just someone lost from the Vetran's home.
3) The GM likes the non-pro sounding djs. He didn't want "big city" sounding announcers.
4) To the board op/announcer's credit he probably didn't have control over the EAS. It was probably setup to relay any message it recieved from whatever stations it was monitoring and to do so without any action taken by the board op.
5) I didn't get the 1 night a week gig as they wanted someone they could have on the shift on a more than summer basis as I would have been heading back to college which did take top priority. West Union is definitely an interesting town.
