C 103.1 FM

Has anyone that travels thru the Eastside ever come across 103.1 fm? This is the epitomy of awful stations...There is so much dead air & the on-air talent is pitiful! I can't believe there are people who listen, it is too awful to imagine...If you want a good laugh, listen to their DJ's read, they can't even read, their pronunciation is horrible...They have the worst DJ's ever....Yesterday the eas came across the airwaves & was announcing a storm for WEST VIRGINIA.....I actually called to ask them why they would be airing a warning for West Virginia & the person who was on the other end of the phone had no idea why & was mad that I even called to ask, Hey I am not the one who aired it you idiot!!!!

> Lol. No I have never heard of the station.

there would be no 103.1 in cincinnati due to the adjacent class b WEBN and CLass Be WGRR on 102.7 AND 103.5 In cincinnati. you must have been getting DX from West Virginia or southeastren ohio

I'm almost certain that this is WRAC, which broadcasts from West Union in Adams County.

I also ran across this article which states that WRAC is looking to move their tower closer to Georgetown and is filling the local void left behind by WAOL/WAXZ/WOXY's switch.

When I was in college I applied for a weekend shift on the station. Here's some more tidbits about the station. This was in 94, 95 ish so things may have changed.

1) They had 2 CD players, both commercial quality, one was a portable CD.
2) It was located in a barn-like building with a front door that didn't lock. The GM who interveiwed me said if someone comes in on Sat night its just someone lost from the Vetran's home.
3) The GM likes the non-pro sounding djs. He didn't want "big city" sounding announcers.
4) To the board op/announcer's credit he probably didn't have control over the EAS. It was probably setup to relay any message it recieved from whatever stations it was monitoring and to do so without any action taken by the board op.
5) I didn't get the 1 night a week gig as they wanted someone they could have on the shift on a more than summer basis as I would have been heading back to college which did take top priority. West Union is definitely an interesting town.

It is, in fact, WRAC from West Union (Adams County).

Thanks for all the replies, this is interesting. Do you realize they still use carts, and cart machines. Maybe that explains why the quality of everything they do is awfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
