C-Span 2 gone from analog lineup, C-Span 3 added

I just noticed that C-Span 2 is gone from the basic analog lineup, but is now on channel 186 (in the Boston area). However, when I tune into it, it says "Not Authorized." But I AM getting the newly-added C-Span 3 on channel 249. I called Comcast and inquired about this. He looked at a list, and it says that C-Span 2 should be on 247. I'm surprised nobody has posted about this yet. Did anyone else notice this?

This is also happening with Comcast in Vermont as well. On November 13, C-SPAN2 will be moving to the "Digital Starter" package which requires a digital box and C-SPAN3 will be part of the "Digital Classic" lineup.

I'm not sure what the logic here is but I suppose the position of C-SPAN2 and 3 must have been approved by C-SPAN for these placments?

In the Comcast system in Cherry Hill, NJ (outside of Philly), we've had C-Span 3 since digital cable started on channel 105. They took C-Span 2 off analog last year and put it on channel 104. One by one, the analog channels are moving to digital and new stations like Fox Business are starting on digital (FBN channel 106). They've also been adding HDTV. They need to free bandwith, I guess.

CSPAN 2 is also gone from analog lineup here in Beverly MA but simply replaced by...nothing, for now.
Maybe something else will be added soon (I haven't checked their site yet) in its place.

This is the second channel that has been dropped from Comcast analog and replaced with nothing. ESPN Classic, which was on 48 here was moved to digital recently also. They're probably trying to squeeze out more analog bandwidth for more digital channels.

I wish they's stop adding these channels give all their bandwith to the HD channels, Right now HD stands for Horrible Definition.

Bring on A-LA-CART !!!

Actually the bandwidth is being given for internet. I spoke with a senior tech at Comcast a month ago and they plan on phasing a number of analog channels out to roll out higher speed internet to compete with FIOS. (It's not a real secret, you can also find this on the internet).
Also with the rising use of VOIP phone services, the demand for internet is great. The compressed HD doesn't take up a lot of cable bandwidth.
