CA. STATION OWNER SELLING, LOOKING FOR CHICAGO RIMSHOT

I own and program KZRO-FM (100kw upgrade to Redding, CA metro), have it on the market and selling after the upgrade.
I also happen to program the best Classics format on the planet (The Z-Channel), and plan on buying a station on the fringes of Chicago and work my way in.

Grew up there, from Plainfield, lived on the North Side and continue to be a rabid Cubbies fan thanks to WGN and MLB.TV.
If anyone knows of such a station for sale on the outskirts of Chicago, please let me know.

Like to sample the format that's going to kick Chicago's ass? Give us a listen and decide.
Probably the only station in the country that has Cryan' Shames in daytime rotation.

I don't know of any stations for sale, but

I suggest you talk to Next Media. They own most of the FM rimshots in the Chicago area. My guess is that the Hedge Fund they are owned by may want to limit some risk with declining values of broadcasting properties.

You may also want to check in with the Christian Denomination that owns 104.7 in Morris IL. They are using the station as a repeater and may want to cash out.

Simpler yet, he could get a broker. He would need to prequalify, showing (for an FM) the ability to close on an $8 to $10 million (minimum) deal for a real limited rimshot... meaning probably around $3 to $4 million in capital as well as a track record of profitable success in the business. Then the broker would search for properties, call contacts, etc.

Without a few million available, it's unlikely anyone would even return phone calls.

If or when NM unravels will be the day realistic pricing starts happening to fm rimshots in the chicago area.
My opinion is the price is down to around $4 million. However you need actual sales to prove that. All the stations are tied up now. I recall hearing on this board the 104.7 in morris got an offer of about $7 million during the "bubble".
