Cable Networks flipping formats.

When did TBS ,TNT ,MTV ,VH1 ,etc started flipping formats from their original formats? I'm guessing it started in the late 1990s or in 2001?

TNT hasn't had that big of an overhaul, IMO. It is strictly dramas now, though. I think they changed around 2000. TBS was still showing Little House on the Prairie in the early 2000s, so there were still some dramas on their lineup then.

I figured TBS had extra hours to be filled when they cancelled WCW Wrestling in 2001. TNT only had 2 hours that needed to be filled when Nitro (which cancelled the 3rd hour 10-11pm slot a year earlier) was cancelled ,but TBS slowly cancelled wrestling on their channel begining in 1998 with WCW Main Event (saturdays 9:05am ET) & WCW Pro (Sundays 5:05pm ET) and again in 2000 with moving WCW Saturday Night from 6:05pm ET to 11am ET and renaming it WCW Saturday Morning (ran from July 1 to mid or late August 2000) that show didn't last through the summer.

TCC the Chimp channel. In reruns at that. Great filler! I wish they didn't cancel that show!

You either forgot or don't know that TBS had WCW Thunder(which was 2 hours) on Thursday, later moved to Wednesday, from 1998 to 2001.

Going back to WCW, TNT's drama-heavy schedule started a couple of months after the last Nitro and the end of Turner-owned WCW in 2001.

I have to say, Turner has done a good job with distancing TNT/TBS and helping each have their own identity. Viacom could take note.
The same would have to be extended to TruTV though I wish they'd either cede the courtroom stuff over to HLN (Which as everyone knows is a disaster & has Nancy Grace & Jane what-her-name after that to analyze the day in the nation's courts every evening anyway) or GET RID OF IT COMPLETELY !!!!!

I mean, I can see why they stuck with it in the mornings in the beginning BUT it ain't like there's not enough of the towing shows (All of them) as well as World's Dumbest, cop shows (All of them, including those they can cherry-pick from A&E & G4 if need be) & other REAL Reality stuff that's been on the air since Fox dumped the Fox Reality Channel back in 2007 (??) to take over those hours

Sure they're reruns. But WHO (Outside of stay at home parents, who'll likely be in some other room working anyway) are going to sit down to watch ALL NEW episodes of ANYTHING during those hours anyway? I mean, SERIOUSLY

Thoughts?

Cheers ;D

Yes, a delete button would be nice. It's okay. We're not perfect. We all make mistakes.

Jane Velez-Mitchell was better in LA co-anchoring the news with Jerry Dunphy on KCAL9 also in the 1980's Velez Mitchell did news on WCBS2 but she did not last that long in NYC. Once she got to HLN she was made into a puppet for Nancy Grace. Either HLN can be TruTV2 or TMZ Network. THey don't do the 30 minute cycle news that they did in the 1980's and 1990's
