CABLE NETWORKS OFTEN BEATING ABC, CBS, NBC AT 10PM

Interesting article in the print edition of TV Guide about the move by viewers away from ABC, CBS, NBC at 10PM to cable networks which are now often getting higher ratings than the big 3.

MTV Networks president Van Toffler is quoted as saying "We seem to have found a sweet spot, where the networks have been running these similar procedural crime dramas for the past decade."
Quite similar to what I've stated on here before about these never ending tiring cop and drama series.

MTV's "Jersey Shore" (which I have no interest in watching) is regularly beating the networks among younger viewers on Thursdays. On Tuesday March 22 MTV's "Teen Mom 2" had 2.6 million viewers (adults 18-34), while the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) had 2.1 million combined.

Also coming on strong at 10PM are History's "Pawn Stars", Discovery's "Gold Rush Alaska", BET's "The Game", and Comedy Central's "Tosh.0." COMMENT: Now, how long till the networks pull out the Xerox machine and start making "Connecticut Beaches", "Hey Mom, I'm Pregnant", "How Much For This Junk", "California's Gold Rush" and "Earth2.0"? FOX must surely be seeing these stats and wondering "maybe I should have gotten a piece of this?" But, it's probably too late now for FOX. They would have to move the local news to 11 and affiliates wouldn't like that. They would then have to compete with too many other local news outlets.

Way to go TV Guide, catching up with the New York Times from weeks ago.

Just pointing out how way behind the curve they are. Maybe next week they can tell us how the 1984-85 TV season turned out. They're free to lazily imitate anything they want.

The Washington Post works the same way. Check out DCRTV and find out how many times the paper gets to reporting items the website has first reported days, sometimes weeks, earlier...

I would think by the time they printed the magazine and mailed it out, they were probably
on or around the same day as the NY Times. TV Guide does not put out a daily edition.
