Cable Networks Without A HD Channel

It seems mostly every popular cable network is now in HD. Some I noticed don't have a HD channel yet. I looked them up to make sure.

Nick Jr.
Teen Nick
MTV Hits
MTV 2
SoapNet
Discovery Fit & Health
Military Channel
Cooking Channel
Style

Also some new shows on the HD channels aren't in HD format. One popular show that isn't in HD that my gf noticed was Jeresy Shore on MTV. Are their any other new shows not in HD?

I don't think Oprah's new network, OWN, is in HD. What about CSPAN 1, 2, 3, and some of the "religious" channels, such as INSP? Also, VH-1 Classic and Soul, MTV Jams, some of the Spanish Language channels? Truth be told, many of the so called HD networks have virtually no true HD content,

Cooking Channel is in HD on Comacst in Phil. OWN is in HD. SHOPNBC,Weatherscan,Current TV and so on also not in HD. VHI Soul is know Centric.

At least in the Tampa Bay area, truTV is available in SD only, though Time Warner (which is buddy-buddy with Bright House) carries it in HD.

Actually, Centric is the former BET on Jazz.

Does TV Land have HD? I'd lean toward thinking they don't since most of their older shows aren't available in HD. The only exceptions might be some of their original shows and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Fox Deportes
ESPN Deportes
Mun2
Chiller
Sleuth
WGN America
Bloomberg TV
CNN International

I don't know about GAC, Military Channel or Discovery en Espanol. I don't get Trutv in HD, for some reason.

Does HLN have HD?

I really need truTV HD to come to Phoenix sooner than later (for the NCAA tournament). They said they were going to add it over a year ago but never did. Cox lists The Weather Channel HD on 745 (it's on 770. The last time TWC was at a similar number was when it was 42 in the late 90s.)

WGN America has an HD feed, though I don't know what they show in HD other than Cubs games and other sports, and the simulcast of WGN's noon and evening news.

I remember WGN America HD went into place just as WGN was carrying its last season of CTV's "Corner Gas", which was listed as being in HD. TWC has never carried the HD version of WGN America here, so I can't verify that in person.

Just because your cable, fiber optic or satellite provider doesn't carry the HD version, doesn't mean a channel doesn't offer one.

HD's channels make little sense for channels which offer only older TV shows recorded in analog video or older movies shot in the 3:4 aspect ratio.

Too late for Bright House -- yesterday, they ran the channel notice for March in the paper; the only thing new is the addition of Reelz in SD and HD.

Turner Movie Classics looks terrible on most high definition television sets even though the old movies were not shot in high definition. It is about putting enough pixels on the screen so it doesn't look soft/pixelated.

FIOS does not carry TCM-HD but I haven't noticed what you describe on the SD channel. I did notice it when I (briefly) had Comcast which ran that and other channels in analog only. Maybe TCM is analog on your system, also. Reason enough to switch.
