Cablevision adds new channels

Seeing channel 99 again, the multicultural WMBC-TV 63, licensed to Newton, NJ will be on Cablevision's broadcast basic package starting tomorrow and will be seen on channel 86. People who have FiOS get WMBC on channel 18 or for those with the dish services it's 63.

Also CPTV Sports as of 4/11 has been added. It's found at channel 139 for Norwalk and Litchfield County subscribers. For those who choose to go the antenna route, CPTV Sports is on all CPTV digital .3 channel (WEDW 49.3 in Stamford).

Here in NYC, WMBC has always been part of basic. Now I am wondering if a CT station such as WSAH and or WEDW will be added to our lineup. We used to have a PBS station from Scranton, PA on our NYC lineup years ago.

A sports channel on a PBS station? I am surprised Cablevision is adding it as it will compete with their Varsity channel.

I have also heard that two new HD channels will be added: Lifetime HD on 848 and H2 HD (History) on 849.

That PBS station you mention, WVIA-44 was on Cablevision of CT's line-up back when it started over 30 years ago. Also then they carried two Philly independent stations WPHL and WTAF (WTXF).

The reason for that sports channel on CPTV can be summed up in three words...UCONN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL. But the channel airs CT high school and other college sports[MSG Varsity goes the NYC Tri-State area], The CT Whale American Hockey League team (farm team of the NHL NY Rangers) and even roller derby.
