Cablevision customers will get a new "Antenna"; CT goes HD

Antenna TV that is. According to what I saw on the channel guide (99/110) on 1/27, WPIX 11.4; Antenna TV comes to Cablevision of CT customers on channel 114...wait a minute. 114...11.4 (if you were to use an antenna...COINCIDENCE?!).

And also, some of the CT TV stations will go HD on 1/26

I know these will go HD

WVIT on 6 and 696
CPTV on 10 and 722
WCTX on 24 and 699
WTIC on 25 and 697

Also channel 116 will have CPTV4U

Channels 3 and 8 do not go HD. WFSB has the Cablevision only WFSB 3 Fairfield County. But can't News 8 go HD?

They don't but it is up to the cable provider if they want to do so.

We have a similar situation here in Bristol County, MA. Bristol County is considered part of the Providence DMA, but that has caused some problems for the majority of the people who watch Boston TV here. A while back, Comcast here provided all of the Boston channels in HD, but only because the Providence channels were not HD ready. This was so people could watch their network programming in HD. But when the Providence channels were HD ready, Comcast was required to pull the Boston channels off of our HD lineup and replace them with the Providence HD channels. This caused a lot of uproar in Bristol County, because people wanted their Massachusetts news in HD, not Rhode Island.

However, during Comcast's digital expansion here last year, they re-added some of the Boston HD channels to the Bristol County HD lineup. We get WBZ, WCVB, WHDH, and WSBK on our HD lineup. Yes, we have 2 ABCs, 2 NBCs, and 2 CBSs on our HD lineup here, which scratches people's heads, but there was a very high demand to get the Boston HD channels back on our lineup.

I thought an out-of-market station didn't have to be carried in HD? (WVIT in Fairfield County)

I wonder what percentage of people in Fairfield County actually watch Hartford stations over NYC stations?

A friend of mine lives near the Housatonic River in Stratford, which of course is Fairfield County. He said he can get channels 3, 8, 20, 30, 59 and 61 (not sure about channel 26), but in SD only. He never mentioned Antenna TV on WPIX-DT 11-4 to me.

Well I can tell you that the HD signals for WVIT, WEDW, WCTX and WTIC have been turned on. Catching a glimpse of NBC CT HD...nice. Fox CT...sharp. But 3, 8 and 20 are still SD.

And Antenna TV is on channel 114. But when I saw the on screen display while the movie Middle of the Night was playing, it was showing the schedule for This TV, seen on WPIX 11.3. I think this is a Cablevision problem and thankfully not Antenna TV. Welcome to CT Antenna TV...at least Southern CT.
