Cablevision

Does anyone like cablevision? I like Cablevision because it has good local programing. It makes it's own news show which tells people about the community. In other words it has good Local origination which is the news coverage it gives.

I personally have experienced a taste of both Time Warner as well as Cablevision and my opinion is that Cablevision is overall an inferior company to Time Warner collectively, not just on cable TV service.

Lets not forget that Time Warner has its own news service, NY1, to counter Cablevision's News 12. I didn't think News 12 was too shabby though, probably one of Cablevision's better efforts. Time Warner does offer more public access channels though as far as I can tell, at least in their Queens system.

One telling difference between the two companies seems to be their high speed internet service. I've had Roadrunner at home for five+ years with, as far as I can recall, three outages. When I was away at school and had Cablevision at my residence, there would seemingly be a service outage on a weekly basis.

Well, Cablevision's News 12 seems to really concentrate on Fairfield County, what the big stations in NYC or New Haven would miss. No customer service complaints when there was a problem. And of course, I am writing this on Optimum online. Then wouldn't you know, bill goes up a buck--to over $137 for cable (incl HBO) and web! That's Telecom 96 for ya! No competition, instead we get monopolies.

I have heard AT&T has started their cable service for Stamford. Saw the line-up, the OTA signals are inferior to Cablevision as you get both CT and NYC stations. Although you get WTNH-8 and WEDW-49 on the system.

I've had experience with both Cablevision and Comcast and would probably give the edge to Cablevision. The best channel lineup I have seen on cable goes to the Time Warner system in Mount Vernon, NY. I was visiting a friend there and it seems that every network imagineable is on that system.
