Could it mean this?

In 2000, DJ Bob Perry in New York City invented radio cowboy, "Cadillac Jack" Garrett to spin everything he liked, without regard to format.....

that's how we got the "JACK" format.

Denver station KJAC also started their JACK format by using the "Cadillac Jack" name to explain the sudden shift in format.

"Jack," the gritty, sarcastic prerecorded voice that comes between songs, is the only talking listeners generally hear, besides commercials. The decision to go without DJ s probably doesn't hurt the bottom line, either.

This would explain the differences in format talk we've heard out of Cumulus lately.

The voice of Jack is Howard Cogan from Canader. He
makes Jack worth listening to, regardless of the
music.

It's a logical way to run radio on the Gulf Coast,
but that being said, Jack has to be ABC Radio's
satellite version and is not programmed locally,
so that makes it hard to believe a new PD and staff
will go to 104.1.

But, if it turns out to be Country, as reported, I
will be surprised that Cumulus would go there to protect
themselves. Crazier things have happened and there is
a Nashville / country connection.

We'll see manana at ocho.

Wasn't there a Cadillac Jack that worked at WABB in the early 90s?

This Cadillac Jack was last with WXTU in Philadelphia, where he did afternoons and was their Music Director. He was there about five years, before XTU he was at WMZQ in Washington, DC. Some friends that knew him in Philly said he was a good guy!

Just my 2 cents....

Any job in Mobile radio is a demotion from being a Music Director/DJ in Philadelphia. That's being dropped from market #6 to market #93! What is Cadillac Jack doing here? Is his Mobile gig voice tracked from Philly?

He's live and local! A demotion? Not at all. Just because a jock goes from mkt.6 to mkt 90 or whatever, doesn't neccessarily mean that they're washed up. Many times, jocks just get tired of the major karket bs. All the same crap you would deal with in a Mobile, or Birmingham, or whatever, is intensified 10x in the majors. Over time it can wear on you. It's not all the glamour that you think it would be. I've known many jocks who chose to go that route. Cadillac has the goods to where he could still easily work in a large market. The way I hear it, is that he chose to come to Mobile so he can enjoy his work and life alot more. 5 years in Philly, a stint in DC, and before that Detroit for a few years. I'd say he deserves to play in the sun.
