The format will only work either where there are lots of middle and upper economic class Hispanic immigrants or where a relatively low share is achievable in a market where all stations are very fragmented.I wouldn't extrapolate any kind of generalization about the industry by what this station is doing
I am a bit pleased that Mike McVay credited me for creating the format in Puerto Rico in the early 80’s.
This format will perform in direct proportion to the Hispanic population that grew up “back home” listening to English language pop music.Your criticism of this station is what people said about WEPN-FM, and that station is doing just fine.
And that is a market with fewer Hispanics who are much more recent arrivals. Not a good place for such a format.The minute you see Lotus do something like this in Seattle, let me know.
