California firestorm coverage

Any thoughts on the coverage on the wildfires in southern California? Seems the typical blame game between pompous east coasters on the cable networks.

WABC sent two, count 'em two, reporters (and possibly crews) out there to cover the fires.
It is a waste of resources on the local level and sends two reporters off to cover things 2500 miles away from their normal beats.

Which is one of the reasons I've been watching one of the MANY local station coverage from LA & San Diego over the Internet. They were (In fact still are) providing BETTER coverage than the cable networks.

THE ONLY station not offering video over the Internet was (Surprisingly & oddly enough) KFMB 8 (CBS) in San Diego. ALL of the LA stations were streaming video and (As I just mentioned) all the San Diego stations but KFMB. Even Indie KUSI 51 & Univision-owned XETV 6 were streaming. I kinda expected NBC O&O KNSD 7/39 and KGTV 10 to be streaming though.

A classic example was while CNN & MSNBC were covering the fires (Namely Gov. Schwatzwenegger's news conference AT QUALCOMM STADIUM no less ), FOX News was featuring His Royal Majesty (Wherever he was) who was spewing forth more of his usual crap that no one wants to hear, yet everyone is tired of hearing.

As such, I've started collecting the Breaking News backdoor URLs to various TV station to put into my RealPlayer (Yes I use RealPlayer even though they're Windows Media streams) favorites folder.

Just my $.02 worth :D

Cheers :D

I couldnt get any of the video streams to come up :(

Can you please provide a link??
You can Google just about any of the LA & San Diego stations for all Big 3 networks plus KTTV 11 In LA & Indie KUSI 51 and you'll get video (Unless of course they've stopped streaming that is). THE ONLY one you won't get any video is KFMB 8 in San Diego, which hasn't been streaming any video at all.

Hope this helps :D

Cheers :D
