Call Letters

Watching the Sunday morning talking heads and hearing the letters "A-I-G" at least one hundred times this past week, I was curious to know if there was a radio station in America that might be getting call residual letter pub, particularly a non-com station that required public funding. According to the FCC website's call letter search, WAIG is available. Think anybody'd want it, given its toxicity? WAIG... "we don't need no stinkin' bailout!"

Right now there is no broadcast station (AM, FM, TV, LPFM, LPTV, or Class A) with the calls WAIG.

Nice catch. Didn't check the "K" data base. Wonder what the calls stand for, if anything. And... hmmm, is the format "pray for pay?" I hear thunder. Time to go. :D

Most of the "KAI_" and "WAI_" stations out there, KAIG included, are part of EMF Broadcasting's national "Air 1" Christian rock network ("Air 1" = "A1" = "AI" - get it?)

I'm surprised they don't have WAIG yet.

If the ratings on WAIG were in the dumper, the competition could refer to them as "WAIG the dog".

If the station were strong, it's mascot would be a pit bull...

Some station liners:

Let the other stations chase OUR tail...We're WAIG the dog!

And back to a Pastrick favorite...We're the station to work out your Woofers...WAIG the dog!

The Top Dog in (city)...WAIG the dog!
