Call me an idiot

Okay, you'll laugh me out of town and call me an idiot (it wouldn't be the first time), but what about giving Jennifer Wilbanks a one week audition on WGST, from 9 a.m. to 12-noon?

Can anybody say people WON'T tune in, if she's hosting a show?

Just remember, KABC-Los Angeles got massive ratings by giving Kato Kaelin a talk show immediately after the O.J. trial!

Alright then - drumroll please...

Not sure if Kato generated "massive" ratings (friends of mine in the market said it was unlistenable) but it did get interest generated for the station.

If Wilbanks just did a WEEK in studio, as you suggest (but never considered hiring her), it would be on every TV newscast and, I think you're right-- we'd all tune into hear... if only for a break or two.

I don't think it's a stupid question to ask at all.

Precisely. I never said WGST should HIRE Jennifer Wilbanks. However, think of the free publicity from every Atlanta TV station, the AJC, as well as from other Atlanta radio stations, and from the national news media. And, can you imagine how many potential new listeners would sample WGST just after hearing their co-workers chat around the water cooler about Wilbanks on WGST?

Now then. How much national news coverage and publicity would 'GST get if it auditioned another Joe Schmoe doing a conservative talk show?

Think this hasn't crossed managment's minds? Look at the trainwrecks that have auditioned so far.

What's the pitch - that a runaway bride will provide runaway ratings? :)

Do it for maybe one day. It would be a great idea if most people in this town weren't sick of her.

That will never happen. She would never do it.
People would just call her up and berate her.

What would be even better is put established DJ's guest hosting on stations out of their genre or mixing up the DJ's.
Let Steve and Vickie do the morning show on V103.
Put Neal Boortz with Frank Ski
Put Barnes back with Jimmy.
Put Leslie Framm with Randy and Spiff.
Put Bert with the Regular Guys.

I'd tune into that.
