call signs

Can someone here explain how can a station get's a call??

Like let's just say if someone like CBS or CC change there Calls, What is the waiting period to get the call letters??

There he explains the chaos in assignments, the court rulings that seemed to allow stations to change their own channels, and the building interference from 1922 to 1926. At that point, the Federal Radio Commission was created to intervene, clean the band up, and then relinquish control to the D o C.

It's an article well worth reading!
