Calling Voice Talent

M

Mike Walker

Guest
My name is Mike Walker, and I handle production for WKBC AM/FM in North Wilkesboro, NC, through my production business, The Production Room.

We're licensed to a small community, but the FM is a 100,000 watt Class C "blowtorch", with coverage extending into Greensboro/Winston-Salem/Raleigh, Charlotte, Hickory, "The High Country" (Boone/Blowing-Rock/West Jefferson/Linville/Sparta/Gaxas Va.) and nearly every other market within a 100 mile radius of our tower. We are just about the last of the "big boys" that isn't owned by one of the big corporations.

Here's the deal. You'll get copy from me, e-mailed, which I'll expect to be turned-around sometimes very quickly...within 24 hours...perhaps less in an emergency. You'll return your voice-work to me as a high bitrate mp3 file, and I'll produce/edit/mix the final commercial. Attention to detail is a must. We strive for nearly perfect audio quality. No "popped" ps, sibilant s's, etc. Be honest with yourself...if you have a regional accent, don't have a great voice, can't sound natural, then you're not what I'm looking for. But if you CAN sound natural, if you can ACT, not just "announce", and if you can work efficiently, then PLEASE contact me at [email protected]

Male AND Female professionals are encouraged to apply.

Pay is 20 dollars per voiced commercial, 30 or 60, and pay is VERY prompt. Experience is preferred. I would also be willing to trade voice work on occasion, if you have other clients. This ISN'T fulltime work. Think of it as dessert, not the whole meal. Sound interesting? Let's talk!

I've gotten some great response from Men. I'm also looking for female talent. THAT is what I really need now...

Good idea Mike.same applies here ,if you don't mind forward them to me or everyone that sent demo's to Mike feel free to send them to me.i'll do at least 25.00..Always looking for different voices on my station.email to [email protected] thanks so much

I might be interested in doing a trade dry spot for dry spot. i own a radio station and still do my side voice/prod. work. I am good at movie trailers and the growl thing (never know you might need it someday) I also do tons of hard sell stuff like car dealers. I just need some different voices on my station for spots. My site is radioimaging.com you can check out my stuff and contact me there. Peace.

Thanks jimmyfish. I've actually gotten lots of great responses, and am no longer looking. But who knows what the future holds?

Jimmy... I checked your demos out... WOW! And what a great Chris Corley impersonation. Very good indeed! I think I've heard your VO on some Chase Cuts stuff.

thanks VODUDE! Yep that is me on Chase Cuts. Eric is ofcourse a master at the craft and a great guy. Funny thing is that actually that Corley thing was not an imperonation, but an accident. I used to do this morning show bit, I would before I had even heard of Chris, I would kind of growl out things and slow it down on reel, kind of a doctor love, Barry White thing. I guy heard it and said, dude you sound like the movie guy, so I started doing spoofs of him and then when I worked in Cincy, our imaging guy (Dave Kampel) heard it and said I sounded like Corley and he wanted to use me on the many CC Kiss FMs and the rest is history. I also sent a demo to Don Lafontain himself and he sent me an email back syaing that he was impressed and he would have me killed lol! I have gotten a lot of milage out of that voice.

I too, own my own station and also do voice work on the side and would love the opportunity to provide a new voice for someone's station.

Mike, I realize you no longer need any additional help right now, but please keep me in mind next time. I would be more than happy to provide spots for spots. I, too, need different voices on our station!

Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like a sample of what I do...

Thanks!
