Can anyone help a Dallasite?

I would like to start by letting you all know that our hearts and prayers are with all of you this week. I cannot say we know what you're going thru, because we have no idea. Please know that the nation is praying for you.

I also would like to say that WWL is an outstanding station. We can pick it up in Dallas (when it is actually on the air), and with family in Mobile, I am always concerned about major hurricanes. The best part about it is that they understand that they are the main lines of communications for all of the Gulf Coast. They understand that people literally across the country are tuning in to hear their coverage, and they know how to first, apeal to the audience, but more importantly, pass along vital information. They do it better than anyone, and Entercom fully understands the role they play.

I do have one question though, if you locals can help out this Dallasite. Does WWL have a 1-800-number? 504 just isnt working. And for all the thousands of people listening outside the NO area, it is difficult and costly to wait on hold on long distance. Does WWL 870 have a 1-800-number? Please help me out and let me know what that is. Thanks!

Your city is getting a lot of attention across the country, and WWL is getting a lot of well-deserved praise from many of the boards.

Thank you New Orleans, and please know that our hearts are with you!

Any 800# fwds to a local number so that wont help....ALL SE LA telephone ckts are dead including 911..the Wx Svc has a transmitter in Beaumont TX but the audio comes from Lake Charles Wx Office via phone line which goes VIA New Orleans...need I say more?? The NOAA xmtr has been off air for most of the day and when its on, I have been told all you hear is a loud HUM.......Makes me wonder why they didnt go with a radio feed instead..

Forget about getting into NO or most of that area...the lines are OUT...a lot of central offices probably got flooded...Entergy, the power company there, has 95 substations offline and 77+ high lines are DOWN...Weatherford Nuclear plant near NO is offgrid and is an island by itself (thankfully!)...it is totally surrounded by water....OUCH! Most power plants dropped off line and are barely running just to produce their own internal "station" power...otherwise, they were pulled off the grid to prevent damage and electrocutions on the high lines..(but mostly to prevent damage) It is said it will be almost a month before some places get power back (including some areas of NO!)

Thanks CW!

I understand that many people in the area are without power for an amazingly long period of time. I can't imagine what life will undoubtedly be like for those of you living in the area. Agian, be assured of our prayers. Also, please know that DFW is always here to help! There are plenty of hotel rooms, many of which are offering special rates for those displaced by Katrina, and if for some reason you can't find a room in Dallas, Fort Worth is right there, 25 miles down the road, to back you up. We have state of the art.. everything. And we know you will enjoy your stay.

Please consider Dallas as a option for those of you who are still displaced by the storm. They are telling victims, as you have heard, to STAY AWAY!! Please, take that to heart. Feel free to come here.

And if you need any assistance, come on over to the Dallas board, and the guys will help you out. Also, let me know if you need anything, let me know... [email protected]

Always praying for you!
